1st place in deadline 2022's oldschool music competion.

dalezy - Kivi Borotva (c64)

Executable music entry for Revision 2011, which it eventually won. About 27k including everything, most of it being the movie sample which you probably can't make out unfortunately.

This track was a tricky one to do - I had to go against a lot of my preconceptions of how or why should I make music, and ultimately a lot of the credit must go to http://soundcloud.com/dshmusic for reassuring me in the last minute that I really should just follow my instinct and go ahead with whatever I feel like adding to the tune, instead of being held back by preconceived ideas.

All in all I think this is one of my favorite tracks of what I've done.

This arrangement of Prehistorik Tale is based on Pink's version.

It's made on a C64 with a 6581-r4 sidchip.  
But sounds quite ok on a 8580 too.

Originally this song was made by Jochen Hippel for the
game Prehistoric Tale back in 1990.

This was done in a very short time but it was all the more fun and challenge to work on this - the brief was "slightly retro, uplifting, slowish", so I tried to make it sound like a bit of an 80s sci-fi movie endscroller track. Despite some serious micromanagement to fit the future visuals, I'm very very happy with the end result.

Quick test of the Polyend Tracker sound engine with the Perfom Mode (change & mix patterns on the fly, add effects ...). Most instruments, including the bass (except 2 bass samples and drums) are made from scratch using the wavetable sound engine. Pretty fun ! The device is constantly being improved, that's cool.

Polyend Tracker - Sound Test

This tune won the „insane combined music competion“ at Nordlicht 2020 demoparty. Dedicated to Ultrasyd who passed away in october 2020. Rest in peace!
This song was originally composed for a C64 DTV demo*. As we did not manage to release it I decided to finalize the tune for the „Notlicht 2020 insane combined music competition“.
The 3 voices of the #C64 #8580 #sid were directly recorded into Logic Pro X from the real machine with a #8580r5 SID chip.
Then I added a #behringermodeld in the beginning for some filtered bass sound and a #waldorfstreichfett for chords and a string in the beginning. The drums are the original C64 drums mixed with some drums from #nativeinstrumentsbattery .
For the #acousticguitar outro I recorded my playing with the excellent #harleybenton CLG-650SM-CE BK. In this little video I mixed some clips from the #commodore64 and #logicprox .
*the #c64dtv cannot handle hard restart of notes and has no filter like the original C64. The only filtered sound you hear is in the beginning, it‘s the deep bass drone from the Behringer Model D.
