Gargoyles in the Rafters are an alternative rock band that likes to perform in the ancient churches of York. The line up of Tom (vocals and guitar), Alexis (vocals, keys and pipe organ), Phil (drums) and Oli (bass) aim to tailor their sound and lyrical content to these beautiful and reverberant spaces. While spanning a wide range of styles and influences, from angsty rock to melancholy ballads, funky jams to choral harmonies, GitR explore themes of creation, relationships, existential dread and redemption. Probably York’s premier gargoyle themed band.
