The track that started the series, I wrote it during the summer of 2006 while recalling some bizarre chat experiences from when I first joined the #ocremix IRC channel in 2002.  Some of the regular users were mocking some internet phenomenon with their own version of "pokegoth" poetry, and the idea kinda stayed in the back of my head.  After finishing this track, I decided to reuse the instruments and cover all four seasons with a similar harsh treatment.

Thief

the first half of the track is intentionally discordant because of how awful basically every news cycle makes me feel. The second half is more dreamlike, I guess because of how much I rely on escapism to get through the day-to-day.

On discord last year a friend was seeking advice on how to create a song for their video game that sounds like a mysterious or spooky meeting with a stranger in the woods. After making some suggestions, I started working on this track following my own advice. Then I tried to write a B section and lost steam, and then the self criticism kicked into high gear and nothing I've tried to add since then has sounded right.
