Italian electronic producer TWAN (Antonia Marra) and British alternative-pop artist, Pelicandy @pelicandyband (Tom Beecham) release their collaborative effort, Something Stronger - a euphoric pick-me- up to make you move. Combining TWAN’s head-turning sound design with Pelicandy’s eccentric vocals, the song is packed with futuristic sounds and feel-good energy. A retro bouncing bass line complements modern pulsing synths that surge rhythmically from exhilarating crescendo to stimulating drop - an energetic ride for those looking to break a sweat. 

Something Stronger is an anthem for pursuing what you want and explores the driving forces behind human nature - hedonism, love and ambition. Whether out-running your demons or striving towards your goals, the underlying message is one of taking control. Marra and Beecham say: 

“We wanted to focus on the insatiable appetite that people so commonly have for what’s around the corner - whether it’s the need to better ourselves, or to create more for ourselves. It’s a feeling we relate to and part of what makes everyone human - what makes humans so unstoppable.”

Accompanying the single are striking artwork and visuals from graphic artist Leif Podhajsky - most recognised for his work with the likes of Bonobo, Tame Impala, Lykke Li, London Grammar and many others. I like to mashup tracks in different styles and have been doing so for over 20 years now. My motivation for doing this over the years has changed. These days, I do this primarily for two reasons.

1. To motivate conventional artists in the RnB/Hip Hop/Soul arena's to collaborate with upcoming underground EDM artists who are really pushing the envelope in terms of contemporary music production.

2. To encourage existing Bass and DnB producers to inject some additional hope, soul and emotion into their tunes.

I like Cyberpunk references, so I paired the bootleg recording with some video clips from Blade Runner 2049. To me, as I edited the clips, it turned into a futuristic love story. A fatalistic one at that.

I started DJing around 2002 and have been dabbling with synths, keyboards, congas, samplers, trumpet, and drums since 1982.

I have been obsessed with all forms of music since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. From 2002 – 2005, I sunk all my loot into a fully fledged music studio and produced a bunch of yet to be released music. Look out for that stuff in the near future. 

The highlight of this time was sharing house and working with legendary music producer, Jeremy Allom. From 2002 - 2010, I DJ'd a lot of Nuskool Breaks on vinyl, CD, and WAV.

Since 2012 I have been obsessed with DJing Drum & Bass whilst still dabbling with production via a series of remixes, bootlegs, and mashup releases.

Jungle and DnB have been a passion for me since buying tunes by Goldie and Adam F back in 1995. I also love Bass Music, Halftime, Soul, UK Acid Jazz, Funk, RnB, Old Skool Rap, Jazz, and 80’s Synth Pop.
