A small collection of some of my favorite rather large tunes from roughly 1992, when 'reaching for the lasers' was all the rage. Although I was a bit young to get in a club in 1992, I was hooked on mix tapes from places like Venus in Nottingham, Quadrant Park in Liverpool and of course, The Hacienda in Manchester. Tunes include Congress, SAS, Electric Choc, Gat Decor and Sunscreem.

As ever, mixed live on two Technics and an Allen & Heath Xone 22 mixer.

Tribute to the infamous and legendary 'Number 1 Club' that resided at Central Street in Manchester (just off Albert Square) and ran between 1986-1993.  The tracks were carefully selected and chosen from a list compiled from many original members of the club via the Facebook group 'The No1 Club Manchester (86-93)'

So my good friends who run the Hacienda Friends Facebook Group asked me to get involved in a live stream a little while ago while we were all in self isolation lockdown. 
I did my usual days and days of preparation, including contacting the other DJs playing before me to check what vibe they were planning on playing, in order to achieve a good flow for the day, and not repeat any tracks that other DJs had played (as many of them would be playing big Hacienda classics). 
I had selected a varied selection of tunes - Hacienda classics that I used to play at the club, some recent bombs that I have played out at some of my recent gigs, some exclusive mashups, and various other stuff. As per usual, I did not have a clue what I was going to play, preferring to select tunes ‘on the hoof’.
As it turned out on the day (as a result of the all-pervasive technical problems with streaming live) the DJ running order was changed around at the last minute…leaving me with no idea of what was going to be played before me.

So I decided to play a mix of old and new, just feeling a vibe…starting off quite spiritual with Massive Attack, moving through Acid House, Disco House, a bit of Italo and moving through some more intense vibes towards the end…a bit of a mish mash!

At the very beginning (and throughout) the set I had some strange media player problems, which meant I could not properly cue and drop tunes in, and do my usual bit of turntable trickery.
Luckily the problem did not disrupt my set too much, but there were some wierd glitches which I had no control over. Also I had a strange distorted mono feed to my speakers in the studio throughout which was a bit offputting.
So I was not going to upload this mix as it was not good enough for me…until I realised that I had recorded another feed which was in stereo with no distortion. Hurrah!

Therefore I decided to do some minor editing to get rid of the major equipment glitches in the sound recording, in order to improve the flow of the recording….and that is what I have upoaded here.
