Nowhere Man 2013 Mix Beatles cover by the Rutstein

From "Ascending", the second LP by Orpheus (released in the Summer of 1968), this cover of The Left Banke's "Walk Away Renee was arranged by Bruce Arnold and featured vocals by Arnold, Jack McKennes and John Eric Gulliksen. 

Without Arnold's knowledge, the band's "Producer" Alan Lorber and representatives from MGM Records made the decision to alter the final mix including speeding-up the entire album to make it more "radio-friendly". Arnold immediately recognized the alteration and confronted Lorber who denied making any changes to the final mix. Years later, representatives from MGM's mastering department confirmed that Lorber had signed off on the change.

Using his original final mix acetates, Arnold plans to recreate the original mix as he intended it and release a "Composer's Edition" complete with never-before-released demos, rehearsal takes and live performances from 1968. Follow Orpheus on Facebook and Twitter for updates:

In 1994, Red Peters composed some biting poetic verse that many musicologists attribute to his love and respect for the works of Rod McKuen. In a scene from the documentary, "The Dark Years", we hear an audio clip narrated by famed actor and vocalist, Alan Pinchloaf, where he describes Peters spiritual comeback from a near ruined career. Peters and producer, Ed Grenga's production borrows on the many techniques McKuen utilized in his wide range of recordings which many times included using dramatic music and sound effects.
