German DJ and producer Delfonic has been putting out great edits and reworks for some time on labels like Razor-N-Tape, Too Slow To Disco, or Nomada, but he has gained great recognition thanks especially to the Illegal Jazz series with his friend Kapote from Toy Tonics. Now comes his debut for Night Shift Records with an EP of four edits entitled 'The Journey Reworked' that reveals all his good work when it comes to giving new life to classic tracks and making them perfect for today's dancefloors. Side A opens with 'Boogie On', a classic that never fails with its funky guitar and signature piano, followed by 'It's Dancing Time', a dark dance track full of tropical disco vibes. On the B-side we find 'Bring On The Music', a perfect example of a funky disco rework with great voices and melodies, and to close 'The Mass Fire', an authentic hurricane of funky rhodes, boogie horns and crazy rhythms that will make you dance until dawn.

All hail the ‘Frottage Pie’ E.P.

Going To A Go Go is a slo-mo chugger which sounds like an escapee from the glory years of Compass Point sessions with snappy & jackin percussion alongside spaced out synth lines & a mutant bass line. Perfect warm up psyched out brilliance. All that’s missing is Grace belting out a few lines as an accompaniment!

Hubbards Hills is just over 8 mins of sheer brilliance. Disco licked house music that is done properly and which hooks you in from the first cued up beat. A piano led breakdown creeps up from out of nowhere with catchy y as heck ‘nah nah hey hey’ style vocal before slamming back in. Straight up-simple and blooming perfect.

To close off the party we have Without You which demands you take the stance of heads down, arms aloft and prepare to grind a hole in the dance floor! As simply led at Hubbards Hills, this is a proper late night house hero with a 3 note sustained synth. Line that firmly wedges in your head alongside a ‘classic’ house rolling bass line. Perfection!

Always good to see a new release from St Petersburg nu-disco stalwart Sunner Soul in the pile and this latest three-tracker doesn't disappoint. 'Basement Jam' itself kicks things off, a pleasingly understated roller that builds slowly for nearly a full three minutes before introducing some barely-there vocal snips. 'More You Want' follows, a more obviously peaktime-oriented number with looped soulful vox sitting on a dense bed of pianos, guitars and 'Beefa-friendly whooshing sounds, before the EP closes on a high note with 'Personal Touch', which opts for an altogether more sumptuous and authentically 70s-sounding feel.

We’ve been huge fans of Pacific Coliseum for a long time, so we’re very proud to present an EP with him on SB and who better to introduce the release than the man from Vancouver himself... 'After four years, it feels amazing to return to my Pacific Coliseum project with the Breeze FM EP. This record came together in a really beautiful, collaborative way, between myself and the SlothBoogie crew. I sent over a handful of demos, and together we compiled and developed this record, which feels both fresh and true to the sound of my previous releases. I wanted to have the record bounce around a bit in terms of tempos and feels: Wine Host has a nice sunset, downtempo feel; Breeze FM taps into a deeper, jazzier sound; Feel Free is a peak time Italo jam. Something for everyone! The whole thing is rounded off with Tech Support’s remix of Feel Free, which re-imagines the tune as an electro stomper. Shadow Pressings hits its stride with release number three, featuring Detroit's own Mike Agent X Clark. A stalwart of the Beatdown movement, Mike's contributions to the scene are legendary, and this EP only adds to his already impressive catalogue. 'In the House Club' leads the charge, a minimal yet impactful track that showcases spoken word from fellow Detroit artist Dr. Tinglefingers. The raw, unpolished feel captures the essence of true Detroit house, with a stripped-back approach that leaves space for every element to shine. Jimpster steps in on remix duties, building on the original with a subtle, yet effective touch. His rework maintains the track's integrity while injecting a deeper groove, with added Rhodes stabs and warm textures that push the energy forward. On the flip side, 'Get Up' serves as a proper homage to the stripped-back, bass-driven sounds that Ron Hardy would have spun at the Muzic Box. Its simplicity is its strength, providing a hypnotic pulse that's impossible to resist. Wrapping up the release, 'Fresh Air' stays true to the underground, offering a deep, minimal cut that speaks directly to the heads. Mike Agent X Clark proves once again why he remains a revered figure in the scene, delivering a release that's primed for both the discerning selector and the dancefloor devotee.
