An artist with a growing and storied history with Particles, Li-Polymer returns with the twin-track "Magnolia". Remixes come from Australian and Brazilian talents.

Opening his Particles account with a remix of Matt Rowan in late 2014 and another for Lateral Cut Groove in early 2015, several original tracks featured on the seasonal Particles compilation series in 2015 and 2016 before "Crystal Serenity" saw the Portuguese artist release his debut solo EP in May 2017. A four-year hiatus followed before the Organic House gem that was "Jacaranda" hit the shelves in February 2021 with remixes from Hot TuneiK and LADS & Traumhouse. Now blossoming with "Magnolia", the title track is a glorious melange of reverberated and delayed percussive beats while a heavy beat anchors the mesmerising melodies that swirl across the sonic landscape. Over the 10-minute piece, textured pads and twinkling keys glisten and ambient effects provide a garden-like atmosphere as synthesised birds twitter on the breeze and off-beat chords provide subtle dancefloor character. Characterised by powerful rhythmic foundation, a strong bass groove keeps "Microclima" in check as rich aural textures and atmospheric effects continue the sonic narrative of the EP. Waxing and waning gently throughout, Li-Polymer's skill is to create a sonic odyssey full of Organic House magic.

A veteran of myriad production credits across a plethora of blue-chip imprints, GMJ's relationship with Proton continues to grow. A former regular on Particles, "Edge of Remembrance" and "Forgotten Wisdom" lit up the label in 2014 before 2016's "Intimation" and 2018's "Open Doors" continued a sparkling portfolio, the latter in collaboration with Tripswitch. Remixes of Kastis Torrau & Donatello, Oliver Lieb and James Monro have also followed as GMJ returns with a trademark remix of "Microclima". Taking the rhythmic cadence of the original and adding a delicious hi-hat swing, silky synths and smooth bass groove entwine effortlessly as elements from "Microclima" are fused with glorious new production material. Blossoming at the breakdown in emotive fashion, chords and synth phrasing are used to maximum effect before the deft new bassline creates a head-shaking second half.

From the Santa Catarina island in Florianópolis, Edu Schwartz is a relative newcomer to the underground dance fraternity. With a residency at the renowned Warung Beach Club already under his belt and the formation of his Words Not Enough imprint alongside friend, Awka, the Brazilian has also featured on the likes of The Purr, Circle of Life and Desert Hut. Edu Schwartz now makes his Particles debut with an innovative approach that creates a new melodic phrasing from the Brazilian's production prowess. A dynamic bassline progression adds an emotive touch as counterpoint melodies and soaring strings add a dash of class at the breakdown, while organic synth plucks and pulsating waves of sound extend into the third movement with ease.

A pair of original tracks plus remixes from GMJ and Edu Schwarz find Li-Polymer revelling in his "Micorclima".

Diamandy - End Of The Tunnel (Original Mix) [SoundCloud Clip]

An artist who made his debut in April 2019, OHMZ has since gone on to create an impressive production portfolio. With releases on Sound Avenue, The Purr and Lisandro's Flug Lab, the Chilean producer made his Particles debut in February 2022 with a remix of Chihaka's "Kupisa".

Now returning with his first solo EP for the label, "Articulation" flows elegantly forward with its intricately programmed rhythmic backdrop and whip-cracking kick. Building quickly through its 5-minute timeframe, repeated melodies wax and wane with ease to create an easily remembered phrase. Counterpoint motifs and uplifting pads add a sense of depth and interest while an intricate percussive top-line creates an intelligent new cadence from which to hang the flowing, evolving melodies.

An artist able to combine analogue and digital production methods to create his own distinctive sound that has evolved out of southern France's techno scene, NHAR has witnessed a musical transformation. From teenage drummer in a metal band to seeing his underground house productions feature on the likes of Voltaire Music, Everything Will Be Okay and Pablo Bolivar's Seven Villas, NHAR joins the Particles roster with a beautifully crafted remix that takes the themes found in OHMZ's original and develops them into a free-flowing sequence that blossoms over the 7-minute offering. A gently pulsating bassline and metronomic beat add dancefloor sensibility as melodies combine in a beautifully woven tapestry that takes "Articulation" in entirely new musical directions.

A final remix sees Paul Richter take centre stage with his Wolfframm production moniker. An artist with a rich history in the drum and bass genre, two decades of experience in the live arena and a wealth of production material including two full-length albums, Paul saw his Wolfframm alter-ego first make its appearance on Late Night Music in February 2002. With "Wait" also appearing on the best-selling "Visceral 110" compilation, Wolfframm now makes his Particles debut with a flowing 10-minute interpretation of "Articulation". Anchored by a lilting percussive groove of toms and closed hi-hats rooted in OHMZ original, a strong kick keeps everything in 4/4 time. Familiar melodies make their presence felt as beautiful new piano melodies emerge from the rhythmic collage. Full of evocative chord progressions and heavily side-chained the pads, the delicate piano drifts unencumbered across the mid-point breakdown before continuing into the second half with a chorus of sympathetic effects and reversed phrasing. The result is a glorious new reworking.

A new original track plus a pair of outstanding remixes from NHAR and Wolfframm see OHMZ witness an impressive "Articulation".

An artist with a growing reputation built around a remarkable sound and a core set of musical beliefs, amháin finds himself at the vanguard of underground progressive house. An accomplished DJ with performances across his adopted Australian homeland, the Irish-born artist has seen production work in tandem signed to the likes of Vapour Recordings, onedotsixtwo and Meanwhile. A pair of remixes for Erdi Irmak and Michael A have graced Proton Music while a remix for Loveclub, Mariner + Domingo was a notable Particles highlight in May 2021. Now with the sublime, "Evaporate", a fizzing percussive groove and deep kick combine with ethereal pads and delay-infused synth motifs to create a shimmering sonic collage. Gradually introducing a swathe of complementary elements, a rasping bass note and razor-edged synth lead shine at the breakdown before the detailed groove and melodic flow combine one more in the latter stages.

Mike Rish is another rising Southern Hemisphere star. Responsible for a string of impressive release including a 2021 full-length album on UGENIUS, the Melbourne artist has found further success on GMJ and Matter's Meanwhile, Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and Guy J's Lost and Found. Guided by a principle of selective musical output, Particles is honoured to welcome Mike Rish with a superb reworking of "Evaporate". Familiar tropes from the original reveal themselves in innovative sonic patterns as Rish builds his powerful remix founded upon new rolling groove and syncopated bass pattern. Club-friendly synth motifs come to the fore in cadenced phrasing before a spine-tingling arpeggio opens up at the breakdown to provide a hands-in-the-air moment, before dropping back into the mesmerising combination of rhythmic and melodic synchronicity.

Born in Hungary but firmly settled in his adopted Copenhagen home, GÆO is a fixture across the clubs of the Danish capital. A graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Music, the Hungarian is as comfortable behind the decks as he is in the studio with a kaleidoscope of "driving beats, dreamy atmospheres and moving melodies". As such, work for Embliss Records, Stellar Limited and the Visceral compilation series has seen GÆO grow in stature with an increasing body of work since late 2020. Now making his Particles debut, a deep kick and ticking shaker pattern provide the backdrop for pads from "Evaporate" to appear while a blend of new melodies from the GÆO production studio ripple in rotating patterns across the 7-minute piece. Gradually building in energy through an elegantly used open filter, the vocal refrain from the original appears, to connect the listener to amháin's work.

Stunning new music with remixes from Mike Rish and GÆO see amháin "Evaporate" into the ether with an assured lightness of touch.

A pair of remixes for Particles in December 2022 and February 2023 showcased Wolfframm's talents with sparkling interpretations of OHMZ and Juan Deminicis as he now returns to the label with his debut original EP. "Lucid" is an atmospheric gem that combines a heavy rolling beat with a tight percussive hi-hat backdrop. A stellar array of melodic effects, piano phrases and light motifs punctuate the rhythmic foundation before a deep penetrating bassline adds to the club-friendly character powering its way forward with low-end gravitas and deep intensity. Heading towards the breakdown, a stereo-panned LFO'd synth effect makes its play, before dropping into a full-force third movement where the complete cast of characters combine to devastating effect and melodic sensitivity. "Before You Go" is another bassline-driven gem that creates a smooth melodic backdrop from the bass sequence that is then mirrored through the other synth phrasing. With more than a touch of class, another beautiful piano sequence brings coherence to the EP narrative, as it finds its focus at the mid-point before the second half blossoms into life. A powerful driving beat, analogue bass groove and shaker-fuelled top line create a stunning piece of work in a pair of original tracks to define the Wolfframm sound.

Darling of the progressive house scene and long-time friend of Proton, the award-winning, Jamie Stevens, continues his impressive range of remixes on Proton Music for Petar Dundov, James Monro and Hrag Mikkel, with another genre-defining remix for Particles. With trademark aplomb and meticulous attention to detail, the scattered and panned LFO sequences from "Lucid" create dizzying aural patterns while new melodies generate a new direction full of atmosphere. As hypnotic as it is technically proficient, the Australian icon's skill is to create a unique dancefloor cadence that builds through its phases, ably complemented by whip-cracking kick, rolling low-end groove and fizzing hi-hat top line. The result is another Jamie Stevens masterclass.

Ireland born but Australian-based, amháin, is an artist with a rapidly growing reputation and production portfolio. Making his mark with remixes for Erdi Irmak and Michael A on Proton Music and April 2023's "Evaporate" EP on Particles, amháin now follows up with a progressive breaks-inspired reworking of "Lucid". The aptly titled "Broken Reality Remix" is a tour de force that cleverly plays on the powerful bassline found in Wolfframm's track by creating a groove that extends into a rumbling and sustained sequence over the 7-minute piece. Simultaneously, sounds from the original are liberally spread over the amháin remix as it retains the essence of the original but taken in a low-slung new direction courtesy of the inspired breakbeat backdrop and myriad additional production work.

Prolific and talented, the pair's solo and collaborative work has become a central component of the Proton Music catalogue with their "Superposition", "Osmosis" and "Interscope" EPs. Remixes for Andre Sobota, Rudy and Juan Deminicis' "Tao the King" in April 2019, are now complemented by a stunning interpretation of "Parallel Words". Turning Nopi's track into a pulsating progressive house gem, a driving beat and rolling percussive groove supply the framework for white-noise washes and multi-layered pads to sweep across the stereo spectrum. Making its mark in a powerful third movement, echoes from the original cascade through the mid-range to typically mesmerising effect.

Founder of the highly regarded Manjumasi imprint alongside Atish, Mark Slee is a renowned name across the clubs and bars of his San Francisco home with notable appearance further afield in New York and Berlin. With more than two decades experience in the realm of electronic music, the US artist has developed a distinctive musical identity that has seen him feature on an array of high-profile imprints that include Looq Records, Cityfox and Seven Villas. Becoming a regular on Proton Music with remixes for Oliver Lieb, Navar and Rudy, Slee's "Veranda" EP in July 2020 showcased three original tracks full of ingenuity and musical craftsmanship. Returning to remix Nopi, the Mark Slee interpretation is full of the poise and grace that has become such a staple of his work. Building through chunky rhythmic groove, melodic echoes of Nopi's original emerge through a free-flowing electric organ that wends itself through the "Dry Ice Dub Mix" in melodic exploration. Extended delays ripple effortlessly while effects and sub-bass add weight.
