This is a 2002 interpretation of Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings, taken from Barber's original 1936 score. The piece was arranged in Cakewalk 9. Synth sounds are from a Kurzweil K2500 keyboard.

Dmitry brought this kooky brass riff to the collab and we worked back and forth between New Mexico and Siberia to make a kooky song, worthy of the riff.  The bouncing brass/guitar instrument is called Balkan Wedding Dance.  Hope you enjoy as much as we do! :)

I heard someone on SC covering this song in the last month. Can't remember who.  I loved the song from the Death Cab for Cutie version that was the theme song for the HBO show Weeds.  I figured it couldn't be too difficult to play, so fooled around with it for part of the afternoon then plugged the electric guitar and mic into the DAW to record it live.  It was as much fun to perform as it sounds.

On March 11, 2020 I laid down two new ideas. One became Carpe Diem Amicis, posted here on April 18.  https://soundcloud.com/gary-rees-since-87/carpe-diem-amicis The other idea sat idle for a couple of months before I fleshed it out. I finished it in August and decided to call it Carpe Noctem.  Not a companion piece by theme or style by any means.  It's definitely a darker piece featuring some unmelodic riffs you might say were siezed of the night.  It's my only SC posting so far that I've tagged Experimental.   I'd say "Enjoy" but I suspect a lot of you won't. ;-)
