This one began as one written by our pal Robert Iwaskiewicz long ago. My 70s band Hundred Proof used to play it, with Katie Bear singing it.  Then I started playing it later from a damaged memory when Bob wasn't around to ask about it and ended up rewriting a song, I guess you could say. The chords and some of the melody are different in my version and I've changed and added lyrics to it as well. It's a folk song, in other words, about Jeffrey Frederick And The Clamtones and also a tribal anthem, reflecting a cultural habit of long standing, talking about the Clamtones. Here's one that's the story of my life. I learned this one from listening to George Jones and just assumed for many years that it was his song. But Dave Reisch corrected me and told me it's James Taylor's song. So James can sue me if he wants but this I've always thought this song was made just for me. Jeffrey's great story song. All of it true life. This is kind of a funereal version. It just came out that way. If I believed in ghosts, I would say I felt Jeff in the room with us that night. And in fact as Dave will attest, I'd been hearing "things" all day and on the stage that night as well. Well, my missing him was sure in the room and lots of Jeff's friends were there. Jeff was there the last time I'd played in Bradford, Vermont, many years before at the old Café 25. So was Harry Hubcaps (Thorne Huber). Both good buddies, long gone, now, like turkeys through the corn. So Dave and I were playing this night for a homecrowd, as Bradford is the very northeastern corner of the Insanity Belt, we used to call it when we was Lords Of The Belt, and so it remains still today.
