A poignant song, it was written in advance for use in a friend’s documentary about a homeless shelter, but that project never got off the ground. Gary Wayne Hudgins recorded himself performing all instruments, as well as engineered, mixed, and mastered the recording in his home studio. The oil painting used for the song’s digital cover art is also made by Gary Wayne Hudgins, which features his sweet-natured mini-Lab Violet, who is fond of sniffing flowers and smiling.

Gary Wayne Hudgins’ Whatever Happens Instrumental recording is an original, acoustic guitar Folk composition, with a Country flavor. The song’s calming, chilled-out mood would also be at home in a New Age playlist. Gary Wayne Hudgins recorded himself performing the two acoustic guitar parts, as well as engineered and mastered the recording, all in his home studio. Whatever Happens Instrumental originally appeared on Hudgins’ home-published, limited-edition CD Chillin’, a collection of laid-back, original instrumentals given as gifts to friends & family, and to art show patrons that bought Hudgins’ paintings. A version of Whatever Happens with lyrics was recorded in 2010 and featured on another self-published, limited-edition CD, The Proverbinators, as well as on now-defunct internet radio station IM Radio. The oil painting used for the single’s digital cover art, Imminent Front, was painted by GW Hudgins (the name Gary Wayne Hudgins often uses to sign his visual art with).

Gary Wayne Hudgins’ Write of Spring Instrumental is an original acoustic guitar solo. Certainly not nearly as shocking as Stravinsky’s experimental Rite of Spring ballet was more than a century ago, Hudgins’ Write of Spring is a somewhat experimental departure from his usual compositions written for acoustic guitar. Hudgins’ composition drew on memories of springtime in the woods surrounding his early childhood home exploring the verdant woodland floor, chasing dragonflies, climbing trees, and discovering all manner of flora and fauna.
