Some are (obviously) more finished than others, but I figured I'd upload something since my last offering was 10 whole months ago


0:00-2:19 - experimenting with different hat rhythms

2:20-3:20 - 6/4 downtempo thing

3:21-8:10 - little live jam with my Korg Volca Keys

8:11-9:21 - started off as the intro chords and I sort of designed it round those

9:22-10:30 - again, started off with the chords (I've been experimenting with designing 80sy sounding keys). intro is very placeholder

10:31-11:51 - older project I did in Bitwig, not gonna get finished 'cos I haven't got stems

11:52-13:19 - slow rhodes, gonna write lyrics for this at some point

13:20-13:53 - accidental distortion on a couple of things led to strange sounds

13:54-15:07 - arpeggiated bass >:) (extremely good sytrus patch if I say so myself) percussion is sort of placeholder

15:08-17:27 - started off as a distorted pad and built a downtempo track round it. could be used for a game soundtrack, possibly with cyberpunk vibes. all the synths apart from the initial pad are my Korg

17:28-18:42 - no samples, all live instances of sytrus (which is probably why the percussion isn't amazing) also not sure what the filters are doing when they sweep through to when it kicks in, but I'll fix that later

18:43-19:14 - attempt at synthesising guitar for a pop punk feel. didn't do too well with the bass though

19:15-20:18 - techno. too much distortion? ha

20:19-21:59 - another downtempo game soundtrack vibe (possibly gonna release this and the distorted pad one together as a set), I really enjoy this one

James Blake - I Need A Forest Fire (Russ Chimes Edit) [Taken from RC:9]

So over the past little while I've been experimenting with some different sounds and whatnot, some of which I have put onto my soundcloud for short periods of time before taking them down. While I haven't actually made that many tracks over just a 4 bar loop, I've decided to release the tracks that had substantial work done on them available as a short EP called Unorthodox. 

I feel like the tracks on Unorthodox are a better representation of what kind of music I enjoy producing and listening to, as opposed to my more house/trance stuff, as just being given the freedom to mess around with sounds however I please with no pressure of releasing to a label or the public, is extremely comforting to me. It gives me no formulas, no specific sound to follow, and by moving away from the typical "Martin Peter" house sound I can try different techniques and processing that wouldn't fit in the progressive house/trance style. 

If you like it, please feel free to download the EP, as well as check out my other music and consider buying and you like off Beatport, iTunes, or another platform of your choosing.
