Autofreak is a dark and driving electro-techno track originally released in 2001 produced by John Selway under his Semblance Factor alias. Selway brought out this track from the archives for a remix challenge on his Techno Saturdays livestream & feedback session with Christian Smith. We picked the top three electro and top three techno remixes from the challenge submissions to feature on this release. From dark rolling hypnotic grooves to sharp edged machine funk, all six mixes make up a strong and varied collection of new takes on Selways underground classic.

The Southern returns to Chris Liebing’s CLR. The ‘Evrything’ EP marks the Italian artist’s fifth release for the label.

Italy’s The Southern comes back to Chris Liebing’s CLR with the ‘Evrything’ EP, marking his fifth release for the label, set to arrive 26th September 2025. Starting with the title track, The Southern incorporates grainy, low-slung drum loops with a repeating vocal. ‘Evrything’ evokes dystopian hypnotism, its low-end pulsing like a heartbeat as its kick drum hammers through the distortion. ‘Circle of Life’, a speedy dub-infused cut that races along its swirling synthlines, follows, breaking away from the darkness to provide a moment of pure dancefloor euphoria. 

Rawthing. label boss The Southern’s high-grade techno has gained support from industry heavyweights like Robert Hood, Ben Sims, and Amelie Lens on impressive imprints such as Truncate, On Edge Society, Kneaded Pains, and, of course, CLR, on which he has become one of the leading label artists. 

Founded by influential techno lynchpin Chris Liebing in 1999 and reemerging in 2021 after a five-year hiatus, Create Learn Repeat (CLR) has hosted a range of artists like Shlomi Aber, Dubfire, Flug, Bjarki, DJ Dextro, and more while also focusing on developing newer acts in the scene, such as Risa Taniguchi and Klint.
