With the release of this set of remixes Figure head Len Faki reveals previously unseen shades of both the source material and his own musical identity. Produced over the course of last year and originally never intended to come out, the Hidden Objects were to remain just that – hidden from anyone but Faki himself who was privately developing a different side of his in the studio.
This effort first lead to deliberately constructing an antipode to Slam’s Cirklon Bells. Contrasting grainy distorted noise and stuttering drums against the light and ambient melody of the original, the remix turns into a bittersweet yet beautifully soothing listen.
Feeling inspired by this novel approach of turning a track’s atmosphere and energy by means of opposition, Faki decided to apply it again to one of last year’s biggest remixes, his own re- interpretation of Scuba’s Black on Black. This time going into the opposite white direction, a more musical and melodic side of Len Faki is allowed to shine through when big, anthemic pads hover over a bouncy bassline and an epic breakdown gives ample room for the track’s groove to rebuild from scratch.
Finally the newfound workflow sees Faki take on Philippe Petit’s Suspened off his recent EP for Figure SPC. Building upon the original’s quivering melody, Faki injects it with serious momentum by carefully added skittering percussion and some deeply moving bass, thus taking the already uplifting vibe even further.

It arrives with two equally impressive remixes from big hitters Cari Lekebusch (H-Productions, Drumcode) and TWR72 (Float, Planet Rhythm), making for a killer follow-up to the well received 'Sehnsucht' Ep, which dropped on Turbo Recordings a few months back. We're very excited to present an exclusive sliver from the record to When We Dip readers today, we got our hands on an exclusive copy of Cari Lekebusch's face-melting rework. Enjoy!

Over a 15-year period Truesoul has set the standard for engaging and effective club music, drawing in fans from across the techno spectrum. A relentless dedication to quality means it’s logistically impossible for Adam Beyer to release music from all the impressive artists who send him tracks each year for Truesoul. This EP showcases four such outstanding cuts, all of which have been tried and tested in Beyer’s sets in recent months. Indeed, anyone who witnessed his deliciously groove-ridden daytime set at Sonus Festival in August (or listened via episode DCR370), would have already been treated to an unofficial preview of the release. 

Belgian’s Ramon Tapia kicks the EP off in superb style with ‘Hexagon’, an energetic slice of techno that builds towards a pumping finish. Fast rising Manchester duo OC & Verde team up with Italian producer Veerus for ‘Naaki’, the track highlighted by a rousing call-to-arms vocal that saw it go down a storm during Beyer’s annual gig on the Amnesia Terrace for Cocoon in Ibiza. The beautiful vocal-led ‘Take My Life’ follows courtesy of Spaniard Marc Marzenit, adding an extra dimension to the release, while still having enough percussive fizz to keep the dancefloor moving. Southampton’s Ronnie Spiteri is another emerging talent to create waves in 2017 and he delivers the knockout blow with ‘Sugar Lips’, a chunky soul-infused offering that’ll be effective in house and techno sets alike.

Making his debut on Drumcode in 2017 with his track ‘Fake’ featured on the A-Sides Vol 6 compilation, one of Brazil’s much loved exports Wehbba brings us his first full EP this February with ‘Eclipse’.

A no nonsense 4 track offering, and all thoroughly road tested by Adam, they have gained much support from longtime Drumcode fans. Eclipse, delivers a low end rumble along with a modulating synth line. Reigning high throughout the track, is the undeniably catchy and unique synth. Leaving this track one to be recognised on dancefloors all over the world.

‘Protocol’ doesn't turn down the pace, straight into a chugging hypnotic drive, this track leaks with attitude, along it’s eerie undertones.

Probably the most acid influenced track of the EP, ‘Glasswerk’ has a futuristic modular synth riff which thunders along a hypnotic bass line which flows nicely into ‘Framework’ to close out the EP. Its punchy and powerful kick sits alongside the cleverly crafted synth pattern, taking this track into a dark zone with a groovy element still resonant.

Another intriguing release by one of France’s most distinctive and prolific electronic music artists is coming out on CLR. On the present EP Terence Fixmer delivers three brand-new tracks which vibrate with imagination, quality and depth, proving once again why he has been at the forefront of the Techno scene for more than ten successful years. The first track and a-side of the vinyl entitled “Psychik” is a straight forward, ruthless piece of Techno, fulfilling each and every need of the dancing crowd. With its dark, hypnotic and unrelenting vibe it simultaneously challenges, pleases and releases body and mind. “Psychose” is the more moderate but equally strong counterpart, carrying on the deep and mesmerizing atmosphere of its predecessor. The slower groove leaves loads of space for the individual elements to unfold and every single sound acts and shines with its particular texture. And if this would not be enough, in the third track of the EP Terence Fixmer surprises with a completely different facet of his versatile musicianship. “Lovesick” is not only another slick production but also features the sensual and haunting vocals of Cormac, resulting in a unique Techno song which talks about love and pain in a very personal, disarming and poetic way.
