In this episode we are taken on a melodic. ambient, experimental sonic journey with Martha Plachetka, you might know as Panic Girl) and Anatol Locker (Ambiosonics & Spheric Lounge) who have formed modular synth super-group, Lucid Grain. They’ve just released their debut album, Rise and Fall, where they construct ambient vibes that balance the chaos of continually evolving acoustic worlds. The track they "reconstruct" was created specially for this episode of Synth Stories and combines a wide array of eurorack modules resulting in some breath taking and frankly wonderful sounds.

From Rebirth and a four track recorder in the year 1999 to broken tape machines, untuned guitars/synths and extreme signal processing an eternity later, Terminal Sound System has remained the primary musical outlet for musician/producer Skye Klein.

It is about stories. There is a narrative, albeit disjointed. Tends to come in threes, like dramatic characters; introduction, exploration, disintegration. It’s about stories, creating a world with sound and words and exploring that until it (inevitably) folds back on itself and starts to self-reference, decay, but also sprout appendages, potentialities.

Roughly a dozen releases have tracked the evolution of Terminal Sound System from post-techno dub experiment to post-everything world-building/destroying. The Endless Sea is the third part of a trinity that began with 2013's 'A Sun Spinning Backwards'. Worlds fell, necessary actions were taken. What happens after exodus, when all is left behind and you get a blank slate? Do we replay the past? Recreate or reimagine?

2015's 'Dust Songs' and 'The Endless Sea' bleed into one another, drawing to conclusion this particular arc. The wave curls back on itself, corrosion amplified. There are more questions here than answers, far more uncertainties than truths. Post-industrial folk stories from a barren earth. Scorched and infinite.

TV Victor was one of the first artists of Tresor Records where he became legendary with several of his ambient and trance productions including Trance Garden 1-3 and Trancecology Chapter 1.
In 1989, he launched his first solo project: Moondance – The Magic Sound of the Moon, where he lay foundations for later explorations with experimental sounds fused with pop elements and anticipated an ambient excursion to be had in the future.

In the following decades TV Victor created impressive solo works that traversed between ambient and trance, he collaborated with artists like Moritz v. Oswald, Max Loderbauer, Ari Benjamin Meyers, Paul Browse and Tobias Freud. Contrary to common mainstream tendencies he created a very unique interpretation of both genres. In recent years Victor has concentrated on creating experimental and abstract sonic spaces for escaping reality, spaces that live through the imagination of the listener. Each piece, a segment of a larger musical movement; stands alone to create new sonic continuum's. Otherworldy music that is in its own sphere.

30 years after the release of Moondance and 50 years after the first landing, Lullabies For Insomniacs revisit TV Victor’s musical roots with ‘Back To The Moon’. The previously unreleased works were carefully selected from his vaults and restored by Berlin based engineer Brett Olke (B Ashra), the album offers a glimpse into the future by creating a soundtrack for mankind’s settlement of beyond in a conceivable hereafter.

A musical storyteller, who became known for his unusual combinations of Electronica and Orchestra, the award-winning composer and multi-instrumentalist Gary Marlowe works primarily for films.

His latest works are “Planeta 5000”, “Tatort: Der Welten Lohn” - with 10 Million viewers watching the prime time TV premiere -, and “Everything Will Change” (feat. Wim Wenders, 2021).

Among his recent recognitions are a nomination for Best Music at the 6th German Documentary Film Music Awards 2018, and a nomination for the renowned Grimme Preis 2019.“Tatort: Für immer und Dich” won the German Television Movie Award 2019. In 2020, Marlowe was nominated for Best Music at the Crystal Pine Awards, with his score for “Alcohol”, and “Planeta 5000” won the Premios Simón in Spain.

Marlowe began playing piano at four, shared the stage with Iggy Pop and The Ramones, became a No.1 hit songwriter, and an award-winning producer. Following studies in Ethnomusicology in Berlin, he studied Composition for Film in Siena, Italy, with Oscar winners Luis Bacalov and Nicola Piovani, winning the Emma Contestabile Award in his final year.

More awards include five nominations at the Jerry Goldsmith Awards, nominations at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards (2012), and at the Max Ophüls Preis (2017).

Gary Marlowe leads his own band, Lotus Thieves, and plays concerts.

He also develops music installations, with international exhibitions including the Biennale di Venezia.

In 2018, Gary Marlowe officially received the title “Steinway Artist”.

Marlowe is lecturing as a docent in various academies, such as the SAE Institute. He is a Berlinale Talent Alumnus, a member of the World Soundtrack Academy, and the European Film Academy.
