Great job and thanks for the d/l: this track is awesome although I've always hated those cheesy vocals!

The first time I heard this track was in the stunning blog of the guys of FeelMyBicep. The entry of the blog including this track was mistaken for what I saw in Discogs. The gym guys wrote this one as "Free At Last", which is the "Friday" side of the record, but the track corresponds to "Get A Head" (Saturday side of the record). Maybe it's Discogs who is wrong, but I'll keep the faith on them, as they have a quite competent database. Actually I have never played this record or even seen it, so I can't make sure which side correspond to which track. But anyways, as this edit is quite pricey on Discogs, and the file on FeelMyBicep is quite poor on quality, I decided to get the original track, and just do it myself so I can share it with everyone.This one shows the legend Harvey Basset at his best, with his moniker R.V.Cock, deleting the ultracheesy parts from the track, keeping those epic pianos running all over it, and giving it a marvelous treatment (just with the copy-paste technique). My favourite DJ Harvey edit without a shadow of a doubt. Enjoy!

La primera vez que escuché este edit fue en el enorme blog de los chicos de FeelMyBicep. La entrada del blog que incluía este tema estaba equivocada según Discogs. Los "chicos del gimnasio" escribieron esta como "Free At Last", que es la cara "Friday" del disco, pero el tema corresponde a "Get A Head" (cara "Saturday" del disco). Alomejor es Discogs quién está equivocado, pero voy a fiarme de ellos ya que tienen una base de datos bastante competente. En realidad nunca he pinchado o si quiera visto el disco, así que no puedo asegurar a qué lado o qué nombre corresponde a cada tema. En cualquier caso, como este edit está bastante subido de precio en Discogs, y el archivo de descarga de FeelMyBicep está en una calidad pésima, he decidido hacerme con el tema original y hacer el edit yo mismo para compartirlo con todo el mundo. Este tema representa lo mejor en materia de edits del legendario Harvey Basset, con su alias R.V. Cock, eliminando las partes más horteras y gayers del tema original y manteniendo los pianos épicos a lo largo del tema, dándole un maravilloso tratamiento valiéndose nada más que de la técnica del copy&paste. Mi edit favorito de Dj Harvey sin ninguna duda. Disfrutadlo!

This podcast series was created to help define and broaden the Asphalt Records sound, ethos and sonic etiquette, and the latest installment of the series does just that, and masterfully so. Madrid based, but Zaragozan born, Rachael’s bio and online presence are so sparse, as prolific is her gigs list and podcast appearances, which leads us directly to a sole truth: in this age of pathologic egotistical behavior, hiper-self branding, and fake humbleness, she lets the technics do the talking, which is frankly refreshing to say the least. 
 
The artist has been storming the most underground and adventurous cabins since a good while now, imprinting her furious blend of high-bpm-breakbeats, sharp and banging drums, dystopian atmospheres and sci-fi melodies which conform now her sonic imprint, no matter the speed or style she is playing. Not only that, but she has been doing it the hard way, the way of the vinyl only, which in a present full of dj aids and compressed digital formats, makes her a music romantic on top of a hardened dj, such commitment saying a lot about her personality and activist dedication to a dying craft. 

Her mix for Asphalt is tribal, deep and mental, rich in percussive minimalism, with influences between autonomic heritage and with a modern take on the noir tech-steppism of Source Direct and Photek, and evolves into modern jungalist roughness and recent dread mutations, unto the fringes of the sonic experimentation: always pushing forward, always with a dark and twisted narrative edge, always embedded in the nuum’s chemical nightmares and paranoias.

Philipp Lauer is a veteran German DJ and producer who’s been carving his path through the scene for over two decades. Known for his diverse musical portfolio, he’s ventured into many collaborative projects and aliases over the years. Each of them offering a unique sonic experience and pushing the boundaries of electronic music to explore new territories.
 
You might have heard of him as Arto Mwambe with Christian Beißwenger, Black Spuma with Fabrizio Mammarella, Crabsticks with Bård Aasen Lødemel, Hotel Lauer with his brother Jacob, T & P with Tim Sweeney, Talamanca System with Gerd Janson and Mark Barrot, Tuff City Kids with Gerd Janson (again), and of course solo as Lauer.
 
His musical journey can be traced back to his early days as a skateboard kid enamored with the sounds of the '80s and '90s. It was through his exploration of electronic music that he found his true calling, diving headfirst into production despite humble beginnings with cheap software and a steep learning curve.
 
While his music is deeply rooted in house and disco, his sound is characterized by its melodic beauty and infectious grooves. He blends elements of nostalgia with modern-day sensibilities, creating a sound that is uniquely his own.
 
As Philipp continues to evolve and explore new musical horizons, one thing remains constant: his true passion for music. Whether he's in the studio crafting beats or behind the decks captivating audiences with his electrifying sets, Lauer's love for music shines through in everything he does. Jeffrey Sfire’s introduction to the underground dance scene and illegal warehouse parties of Detroit occurred at the tender age of 15. This escape from suburba led him to some of the city’s most talented DJs and musicians, who soon exposed him to a new culture of creative riches. 

Learning by example, Sfire’s taste and skills as a DJ developed naturally and he soon began playing out at parties, clubs and sleazy gay afterhours, usually entering covertly through back doors or with a fake ID. A move to Chicago exposed Sfire to a whole other side of dance music history, including "Italo Disco" and genre jumping dj styles of the Hotmix 5 radio djs. 

He spent afternoons digging through record store crates, meeting retired DJs and developing his musical palette. Having held numerous club residencies, he regularly plays at Panorama Bar and Cocktail D’amore in Berlin, The Carry Nation and Wrecked in New York, Hard French in San Francisco, and his own party Loosen Up! In Detroit, consistently offering a finely-tuned selection of Acid House, Italo Disco, Latin Freestyle, & 90’s NYC House. 

In 2013 Jeffrey and SOPHIE released the first untitled “Sfire” record on Cocktail d'Amore Music out of Berlin which has become a cult classic. Since then the duo has released 3 more untitled “Sfire” records. He is currently living in Detroit and is one half of the Italo/Electro duo Looky Looky with Ian Clark released on Dark Entries records of San Francisco.
