Nepal is one of the most influential names in the Brazilian music scene. A true digger and selector. He’s also a longtime friend of ours, always spinning our tracks and sharing music back and forth. It was just a matter of time before we teamed up on a track.

Today, we’re excited to drop our edit of "Mama" by the legendary Rio de Janeiro artist Agepê (Antônio Gilson Porfírio). He’s an icon, though sometimes underrated in Brazilian music, who left behind an incredible legacy.

The original track is a masterpiece, so taking it on was no small feat. To add that extra groove, we brought in Pedro Botafogo to lay down some acoustic guitar and cavaquinho.

A música original é uma obra-prima, então foi um grande desafio que aceitamos. Para adicionar mais ainda ao groove, convidamos o Pedro Botafogo para gravar violões e cavaquinho.

Na década de 70 inicia-se uma nova era na cultura brasileira, Tim Maia, Toni Tornado, Cassiano, Paulo Diniz, Carlos Dafé entre outros, trouxeram todo o swing e a cultura Black Power para nossas terras tupiniquins, junto iniciou o fenômeno dos bailes blacks nos subúrbios principalmente do Rio de Janeiro. O estilo Black (funky) até hoje traz heranças do seu legado e Guterres buscou juntar um pouco de sua identidade nessa versão exclusiva de "Onda" do intérprete Cassiano.
