Icelandic producer @jonbjorn is the cofounder of Reykjavík-based record label, @lagaffe-tales. I met Jónbjörn in Berlin a few years back & we've stayed in touch since. He & his label-mate Viktor Birgliss have done an amazing job curating a fantastic catalog of music that to me has always true to the roots of electronic music while also having a uniquely Icelandic tone which is accompanied by Jónbjörn's own, otherworldly artwork designs. Jónbjörn's music to me sounds like the geologic activity in his backyard - techno & electro that is raw & full of tension, crafted for those early morning hours in a sweaty warehouse party or a HÖR livestream. Rip Van Winkle (Jónbjörn Remix)

Mongrando, Italy’s Kreggo has been releasing his unique twist on contemporary electronic sounds via the likes of Lobster Theremin, 10 Pills Mate, ARTS, Infinite Machine, Return To Disorder and Serotonin over the years as well as heading up his own art-aud imprint which traverses through styles ranging from downtempo to dancehall, breaks, bass and more. Here with his latest EP for Italy’s Nottetempo he once again allows all of his musical influences to shine through across the five-track ‘Rally della Lana’ EP.

‘Rising High’ sets the tone with ethereal chords, wandering bass tones, squelchy acid licks and modulating percussion before ‘Talking Stars Cabin’ lays down bumpy syncopated rhythms, oscillating synth tones and dynamic atmospherics.
‘Mcshea’ follows to open the B-side and shifts focus over to skippy, jazzy-tinged drums, murky bass drones and shimmering resonant tones. ‘Small Town Girl’ is up next and embraces a liquid D&B feel via amen breaks, elongated subs, and soft textural pads before ‘Soundtrack For A Film That Doesn’t Exist Yet’ rounds out the release on ambient tip, laid out across four minutes with slowly unfurling synth sequence and vacillating low-end tones.

Pressed on a limited run of blue translucent vinyl, the colour and name of the EP correspond to Iron on the Fraunhofer Absorption Spectrum of our sun.

Stefan Weise aka Syrte envisioned the “Astra Spectra” series as a celebration of mankind’s vision for space exploration, past and future, while also expressing a love for space science, science fiction and the spirit of discovery. Each release in the series is representative of a color frequency in our sun’s absorption spectrum and the element which is represented by that, hence the name, which means “Solar Spectrum”.
