Rising DJ/producer Boxia makes his Drumcode debut, fresh from a well-received warm up set for the crew at the hugely successful Junction 2 festival in London, while the likes of Enrico Sangiuliano, Juan Sanchez, Ian O’Donovan and Timmo also drop fire, establishing their credentials as some of the most promising talent breaking through the ranks in 2016. 

Reinforcing the global scope of the label, artists such as The Junkies from Toronto and Layton Giordani from New York, prove techno is winning a place in the heart of the new generation of artists coming out of North America.

Manchester based Transcode has made some waves in the scene with his quality output on labels like Stil vor Talent. Filth on Acid is very happy to welcome this unique artist to the label, with three great originals on his Afterlife EP. Next to that, Whyt Noyz from Richie Hawtin’s Minus stable delivers an outstanding remix.

Afterlife starts off with a dreamy, subtle atmosphere, and some fantastic programmed synths and arpeggios. These elements are contrasted when the beat comes in; powerful and straightforward. The little melodic percussive elements work in perfect harmony with the melodies and keep on driving the track. The long breakdown in the middle of the track is mind blowing and a real crowd pleaser. A level work by Transcode.

Whyt Noyz manages to squeeze the synth lines of the original into a remarkably tight groove. Razor sharp hi-hats and a solid kick and bass drive the track on through airy and trippy effects. Slowly the arpeggio unfolds from the groove and leads us into the breakdown, where feeling of the original track perfectly complements the hypnotic vibe of Whyt Noyz grooves.

The third track of the EP, Vesta, illustrates Transcode’s ability to write very strong and beautiful melodies, with almost a relaxed feeling, without slowing the track as a whole down to much. There’s still plenty of energy here, and as Vesta develops, the energy level increases in a subtle way too.

Night Vision closes of the EP in style, introducing acidy elements and colossal sound design that stimulates the imagination of the listener. A heavy bass drum and a steady, punishing drum section combined with an eerie, dangerous atmosphere create a tasty atmosphere.

Having run for well over a decade, Intec was launched in the late 90s and in that time has featured tracks and remixes by artists ranging from Oxia and Deetron to Marco Bailey and Ben Sims. 

The new Intec release is from DJ Jock aka Stipe Koki, a Croatian artist who regularly plays many of Croatias top clubs, and on this circuit met Carl Cox who signed his first Intec release in 2015. Now on his third solo EP for Intec, DJ Jock has also featured tracks and remixes on labels including Cristian Varela's Pornographic, UMEKs 1605 and Sasha Carassi's Phobiq. A promising young talent, DJ Jock is only 26 years old, so there is no doubt that this is only the beginning of his career. Having already remixed music from the likes of Ken Ishii and Hollen, he is already building an impressive musical legacy. 

First on the release, Tension has a hard hitting kick drum at its foundation, which hammers a relentless energy deep to into its core. Meanwhile bass stabs play a game off call and response, where a variety of synths paint a tapestry of sonic textures. Lifted by the vocal sample and a euphoric pad, this fiery techno anthem is something of a beast. 

The second track OutLand is fuelled by the bassline, and with a groove like a well-tuned engine full of torque and high in horsepower. Hard hitting mechanical percussion sounds like hammers on sheet metal, making this is an industrial monster that is certainly a force to be reckoned with. When it things couldnt get any more intense, the lead comes in and cranks it up a gear for maximum dancefloor destruction.
