Gato Preto are back with their next single from their upcoming Album „Tempo“.  

Dia D is a pure Afrohouse summer hymne: Powerful funky drums which create an uplifting feeling to dance, a South African Guitar melody by guitarist Vincent Themba which will stick in your head for weeks and the repetitive Chorus by Gata Misteriosa are the perfect ingredients to this Summerhit!

Dia D is translated into „Day D“ and although the vibe of the song is very positive the message is deeper: dont let any man control you!! Be a strong woman and on „Dia D“ it is payday to kick the macho-men’s asses!


The single comes with remixes by South African producer and part of Batuk Aero Manyelo, London’s very own The BUMPS, Jinku from Nairobi, Zurich based Tikk, NYC’s Illexxandra and another one from Utrecht native Cafe de Calaveras.

“Take a Stand” is a love song for Africa  – its a call for staying true to your roots and your origins in this modern world where media creates western stereotypes.

It raises awareness  about our past kingdoms, kings, queens and thinkers who lost their Life’s in the battle against the colonizers. Out ancestors where proud of their motherland Africa

Till today we are still struggling with our own identity and we felt its time to encourage people through our music to be proud of where they come from no matter where they live!
 
 In September 2016 Gato Preto headed to Jinja in Uganda for NyegeNyege Festival and performed the song live with Iche for the first time.

“Take a Stand” is a hybrid of many different styles: Moombahton and electronic genres combined with Afro drums and rhythms are the basis for this heavy and driving groove and futuristic atmosphere of the song.

Iche’s soulful lyrics can remind one of a young Sade: This song will give you goosebumps!!

Crooked Bois are the producers Chaikov and Lee Bass who teamed up for this Track and who work together on EPs.

Flavia and Gato Preto met when they both performed at festivals in Canada. Their subsequent exceptional artistic collaboration has yielded one of the most electrifying songs “Fala Comigo” on Gato Preto’s recent EP which will be released later this year.

“Fala Comigo” (Talk to me) is a song that stands out: It links Africa, America and Europe in a very special way – the extremely catchy guitar melody is played by a renowned guitar player from the Congo, whose idea for the tune was produced by Rey Sapiens in Uganda. Later Lee Bass and Gata Misteriosa gave it the Gato Preto flavor.

Alongside Gata Misteriosa, the track also features Flavia’s galvanizing vocals. Flavia, a Brasilian-born singer who lives in Paris, gives Gato Preto’s otherwise deep-toned bass sound an unexpected easiness through her Brasil-pop, Samba and Reggae musical influences.

“Fala Comigo” is an invitation to dance: “ Talk to me – Come and dance with me”, sings Flavia, an accomplished singer who has already worked with artists such as Elida Almeida and Patrice. With “Fala Comigo”, Gato Preto and Flavia Coelho give us a perfect track for the hot days of summer and an ear-worm that will continue to run through our minds.
