Growing up, I always lit up at the idea of space travel. The thought of taking flight on a rocket ship and seeing the Earth from a whole new perspective peaked my ever-growing curiosity. Astronaut’s are considered to be pioneers because they take flight and go where mankind has never been.

In a similar fashion, when we begin the journey to making our dreams become reality, we are potentially becoming pioneers for those around us, and even for ourselves. But before we take to the skies, we often encounter a moment, a moment where we realise the scale of what we’re setting out to achieve, and what it’ll take to get there. We may realise that the journey will be tough and longer than expected, but something within still propels us to continue the pursuit and reach for the skies above.

“one day i will fly” is an exploration of that moment. The moment where you see the dream you know and deeply hope will become a reality in your life, while acknowledging that it may take a while to get there.

I heard it said that like an explorer, you cannot find anything new if you are not willing to leave the shore. My hope is that as you listen, you too will find the courage to realise where you need to step towards and do so with wisdom and faith. You will never know what lies beyond your horizon until you set out to see it.

I may not have reached my destination yet, but one day i will fly.

Here's a song about patience. I'm not always good with patience. Even the month-long wait from having finished this song to releasing it was a challenge for me! But I'm learning more and more to slow down. I'm usually thinking far in advance and trying to plan out the future, but God's word reminds us to take things day by day. To trust and depend on God, and be ok with not being in control. I remember doing a study last year, looking at 1 Corinthians 13 - "Love is patient, love is kind..." and realising that God IS love, and therefore everything that's true about love is true about God Himself. He is patient, He is kind. And I started to relate that to the way He loves us as individuals. God is patient with me. This truth really hit me.

I think somewhere deep down I felt that God had big plans for my life, and who I was created to be, and that I wasn't measuring up to that. That somehow I'm lagging behind or not fully walking in all that I was made for, and that God was disappointed or frustrated with me. Maybe you've felt the same way. But I came to realise that's a lie. God is patient with us. God is kind to us. He's ok with things taking a long time. He's ok with us not seeing the complete picture yet. He's ok with mistakes and set backs. And in many ways I think God is more concerned with the process than the finished result. We learn in the process. It's the place we draw close to God and learn to depend on Him. The process is where relationship develops. And so, I'm learning to slow down.
