Recorded live for the Stephen Foster show on BBC Radio Suffolk, 2009. We couldn't believe he played all 8 minutes of it!

Lead track on The Lullabys' second EP, 'Love, Loss and Hope' released in 2010, recorded at Monkey Puzzle Studios in Woolpit. Me on guitar, lead vox, bass and backing vox; Brett Robertson on congas, percussion and backing vox. Good fun was had by all.

I'm Not In Love With You Anymore

The opening track to 'Burying Ghosts'. I'd had this melody sitting around for nearly twenty years on my old analogue dictaphone. I was inspired to write some lyrics and finish it after watching the movie 'The Diving Bell and the Butterfly'. Uncertainty reigns supreme. Most of the time we know nothing. And it's okay.

Strong or Wrong

Existential stuff about going through midlife and getting older. Answers come through asking the right questions. I have been inspired by the story 'The Wounded Fisher King'. We're all trying to find our own holy grail.

Will You Be the One?

Track 3 from Burying Ghosts. A song about resilience and the battle with inevitable consequences of one's actions. There was a time when guilt and over-caring for someone nearly dragged me under. But like Odysseus, I held tightly to the mast and managed to sail past the lure of the Sirens, somehow.  

Lost at Sea

I wrote the music for this in a mate's beat-up old caravan. My friend - and now wife - Trudi, had already written the poem/lyrics and because they seemed so apt for me at the time I knew I had to turn them into a song. The weird, ghostly sound at the start is a badly-tuned auto-harp.

Haunted

A re-make of The Lullabys' first EP single 'Maybe Tonight' released in 2009. 

I played it this way, acoustically, to a friend and she said it was the saddest song she'd ever heard so I recorded it. I like it much better.

Maybe

A re-recording of The Lullabys second EP/single from 2010. My brother Julian wrote the melody in the mid 1990s and I came up with the words. I felt I wanted to make another recording of it for this album. Will's piano work really adds something to this version that was missing from the 2010 release. 

Broken Again

Burying Ghosts.
I like to think of myself as a modern-day mystic and seeker of Truth and my songs are about life's loves and losses, with the twists of fate that accompany the human journey and its many harsh and beautiful lessons.
