Quirkly thing this track, its almost a boppy indie song and then I just give it a metal riff in the chorus for some reason. I sort of like the unpredictability of music and this song I guess is a bit like that.

The chorus line 'Second Hand Stupidity' I actually took from a piece of standup by comedian Ronny Chieng and I just loved the idea of it.

The year 2020 has been rather odd, I mean its just been so very odd, this is sort of my ode to the weirdness. A culmination of events and oddities I have noticed along the way and pondering the question of what on earth could come next?

Weird Pink Clouds In The Sky

Anyone who ever watched the now sadly lost soap opera "Brookside" based in my home city of Liverpool, will be familiar with a character called Jimmy Corkhill. For those who are unaware, Corkhill was a tough local gangster, an angry individual usually threatening someone and in one case I seem to remember a kidnapping.

So imagine my surprise on a chance encounter with Corkhill (well the actor who played him anyway) in Liverpool city centre, when I was working in a stationary shop and he seeks my advice on painting tools and supplies. What was this madness? What did this tough man see behind his eyes? What beauty did he reflect in? There were so many questions to answer and I knew absolutely none of them, least not fuck all about painting too, I didn't work there much longer, but I will always cherish the day Jimmy Corkhill filled my mind with wonder.

We all have insecurities, even the most confident of us, over the years I've learnt that even my most odd personality traits are actually some of my most positive. So I wrote this song to say whatever you are, whoever you are, do not be afraid of your little quirks and revel in them.

Dealing with the delicate theme of break ups for this song. We've all been through them and they can be shit, well mostly in my case they have been shit, but they happen for a reason. So this tune is more about getting over those moments. Keep your head down and stand proud of who you are and don't let it get to you.

I love the quirky bouncy little riff that chugs this song along, its a bit more no nonsense and I like that about it.

Lyrically its about putting the V's up, flipping the bird and generally not giving a damn about those who talk about you when your back is turned. Yes I have made mistakes in my life, but we all have, and those mistakes are what makes you sometimes so don't hold any regrets for anything in your past, present or future.

I wrote this song about one of my ex's. No I ain't saying which one either you nosey bastards but its made such a nice big tune anyway so I thank them for that anyways.

I love the guitars a lot in this track and the catchy hook of the chorus should get stuck in your head for a wee bit.

My Moaning Lisa

My Christmas for many years has been more about my consumption of merriment in epic proportions. A lot of our friends would meet Christmas eve and get a bit saucy. So much so that usually Christmas day was actually bloody awful as I nursed the mother of all hangovers. So when I sat down to write a Christmas song, the first idea I thought of was just a song about having fun and getting smashed at Christmas.

This year in particular with covid restrictions limiting our abilities to see wider families and friends and celebrate together, why not raise a glass from a far and say fuck it. 2020 has been a devilish sort of arsehole and here is to 2021 when hopefully a sense of normality can return and I can hug strangers again while merry on wine.

Christmas Time

Possibly a little emo this one but I'm assured its still punk rock too. I bare my soul a little bit here, this song is about reflecting on choices, mistakes and decisions I've made in my life that sometimes feel like I have eagerly pressed self destruct for not much reason at all. When I was a week punk rocker in my teens/twenties I probably got a little bit carried away with the attention and it made me selfish. I had a great time don't get me wrong but I can look back and reflect and sort of realise I could have been better at times.

This song is my promise to those who have stayed the course alongside me through various changes and my vow to them that I will strive to be better. I'm sure some people can relate to this, so hope you enjoy and take whatever meaning you want from it.
