GC System - Fallen (Original Mix)

The starting point for this collaborative track was a rich-sounding rhythm track full of glitchy textures, dub delays, and dynamic movement, composed by Sternklang for Disquiet 0572.

I added a couple of percussive layers programmed in Ableton, along with a chord I sampled from my modular system, bass tones using Serum, and VST processing to add tape cassette style artifacts and bit reduction textures. My goal was to reinforce some of the implied melody in the original track with the bass, and then reframe the composition with simple chords and a light percussive embellishments. I kept the original track front and center with only minor edits and processing to add inflection points around transitions between parts.

Biography:

Gonçalo Costa is the name behind the project GC System, born on 10/01/1986, in Portugal.

Always connected to electronic music since he was a child, his interest grew fast and, in the end of 2008, started to buying softwares and hardwares for producing music, which led him to produce his own tracks, editing for the first time in 2012.

Whether in his solo or collaborative efforts, GC System has always been a maverick presence in underground dance culture and he believes that the inspiration can come from anywhere and that’s why he is open to all types of Electronic Music.

Their sound is driven by psychedelic beats and synthetic bass lines with a single purpose...to make people dance!!
