Next tape shamelessly broadcasts something more than a musical history into the mouthpiece of the era. The playful intro with Kelis' voice instantly sets a suitable rhythmic texture, hinting at a multi-genre evolution within the compilation. First, a tub of burning, aggressive bottoms pours out on the top of the head, flows down the ears with organ synthesizers and tickles the cheekbones with sensitive hats.

Everything becomes more serious when a high-voltage jungle and an assertive swing with a booming, angrily mumbling bass line are alternately wedged into the carefree prowess. Arrogance is quickly knocked down by weightless melodies with rare blues scales and dreamy echoes of Eurodance, packed in classic UKG.

Here and there you can hear the expressive riddle of breakstep mixed with growing landscape pads and agile snare, and in places a notorious raga style seeps through, demonstrating a true gangster bearing.

A fresh street blend Spezial Series Vol. 3 will shower from head to toe with seditious, unbridled and daring highlights, and where necessary — it will caress with romantic accompaniment.

Bristol's Mushkilla has quickly been cementing himself as one of the most promising up and coming MC’s out of the city. He returns to ec2a with a summery 2 track, UK Garage inspired project straight off the back of his latest collaborative EP with Jevon Ives titled "Dillinger". With heavy support on BBC 1Xtra, Radio 6 and Rinse FM from the likes of Tom Ravenscroft and Jamz Supernova. Mushkilla has established himself in the UK’s bass music scene thanks to his seemless delivery and effortless flow.

Taking a step away from his UKG focussed output to shine a light on his versatility, Mush now fixes his attention back towards a sound which early fans will recognise him for.

Mush teams up with Bristol based Kobe JT, paying massive homage to the UK Garage sound. 4x4 delivers more of a house inspired feeling, classic 4 to the floor drum patterns and jazzy chords for good measure. In UKGZ you can hear the familiar 2step influence of old school garage tracks, coupled with Mush’s jungle inspired MC-like flow. The combination, a true tribute to the formative years of UKG and a crystal reflection of Mush’s talent.

The Original mix is a more restrained take on the same theme but still packs more than enough low end to hold its own in the dance. Over on the B side Soundboy Cookie comes correct with that 90's era Chris Mack style shuffle on jazzy 2 stepper Brooklyn Swing before taking into darker but equally classy territory with Mic Professional.
