Something from a new JN album due in 2017

JN "Prove That You're Feeling Me"

This is a recording of the Debussy string quartet with a quartet of friends I played with in the summer of 1992 at the Meadowmount music festival in upstate NY. I stumbled upon an old cassette tape recording of the performance after our recent move and did my best to master it with all the digital goodies available in my studio (some tape hiss is still apparent...).

Looking back from the ripe old age of 43, it's interesting to hear your 19 year old self, recognizing all the things you would have now done differently, and how you've matured with age and as an artist. However, it was a very good performance with some excellent musicians who captured the excitement of that moment and the energy of youth.

I know it's not electronic music, but I hope you enjoy it!

We reached out to our man Kaye in Singapore, one of the heads behind the Darker than Wax label/collective alongside Funk Bast*rd. Kaye chose to rework 'Does Nothing End', featuring the earthy tones of Paris-based US soulstress Krystle Warren. Kaye took the midtempo orchestral song based around a Brazilian maracatu rhythm and turned out a soulful house groover, adding warm synth bass, subtle percussion and big chords while keeping Krystle's vocals and Doug de Vries' cavaquinho strumming in place. One for fans of organic/electronic house sounds like Osunlade, Ananda Project and the King Street/Nite Grooves labels. Also check out Kaye's dope new Bobby McFerrin edits.

Gabe began his musical studies at the age of three with his father, a professional violinist, and studied viola performance at the Juilliard School of Music.

He broadened his musical horizons in the late 90s, producing electronic music, DJing and throwing underground parties in his NY-based studio. He has also worked on productions with DJ Razor and on two of Victor Calderone’s large gay pride events in NY City.
