Samedia Shebeen presents a digital dance label SAMEDIA TRAX to showcase joyful global club tracks from our extended family worldwide. 

Beginning at home in Scotland we are releasing 3 original slices of SAMSON SOUNDS goodness. The well loved Glasgow-based band and production outfit are no strangers to the Samedia stage. Their energetic music is a unique fusion of afrobeat, dub, dancehall and funk styles. Lead track Goyaton is influenced by the rhythms of Funana from Cape Verde, swapping out the accordion for electric guitar and marimba, while Antipodes takes in psychedelic tones and funk rhythms from opposing corners of the world. The final track, Turbo Pause, lifts the energy up to the stratosphere in a rapid, brass-laden, afro-beat screamer. 

Each SAMEDIA TRAX release will feature a guest remixer - and for our debut release we stay in Glasgow with fast-rising producer CASEMENT who delivers a very tasy bass heavy rub of Goyaton for the soundsystems when they start to play again.

Fire In The Hole

Dancehall Fusion mix number 12 is provided by excellent DJ and selector Tenor Rock. He is mainly known for being part of the international soundclash champion crew Ma Gash Intl.

Tenor Rock is one of the key exponents of the dancehall scene in Geneva. He and his crew started in the underground scene of Geneva with a notable longstanding residency in the famous squat “K-Bar“ in the 2000s. They rapidly built up their reputation, becoming a major act in the soundclash scene, with a memorable win against Brooklyn-based LP International in Trinidad and Tobago. With numerous victories and gigs under his belt, Tenor Rock started his solo career by touring Switzerland, before becoming a well-respected dancehall DJ in Europe. 

We are blessed to have this notorious Geneva-based DJ in the series, who provided us with one of our favourite mixes of the past year. Tired of the new dancehall wave, Tenor Rock presents an extended mix of his top dancehall tracks released in the last couple of years. His statement is clear, as the selection is based on one solid criteria: the sonic aesthetic is based on 1990’s bashment exclusively. Once again, after his wonderful show at the last Dancehall Fusion, this mix reveals the knowledge and skills of Tenor Rock behind the decks. Tracklist TBA.

Based out of Eugene, Oregon, Rortron started DJing and producing at the beginning of 2018. It was after getting laid off from his job that he decided to purchase a controller and start learning how to mix. Since then, he has fallen in love with providing good vibes on the dance floor and in your headphones and home speakers. He has DJ’d all over his hometown at places like The Big Dirty, Sam Bond’s, Cowfish, Thinking Tree Spirits, and many others.

His enthusiasm for dancing and appreciating amazing shows has shaped him to always make his sets and performances memorable. He realizes it’s about the people in the crowd and creating a selection of hospitable vibes that invite you to come back for more.

Rortron is the kind of guy you can feel comfortable introducing to your parents. He is always moving and smiling when he DJ’s. He will never be pretentious and patronizing to anyone who comes to his shows or listens to his mixes and music. He always shows love to the sound, security, bookers, and bartenders. Always the consummate professional, he is keenly aware that people come to shake their asses and have a good time. He is eternally grateful for the opportunity to DJ and spread joy.
