Kolonnadenbar is a temporary space which pops up every summer at Museumsinsel - in the heart of old Berlin - and combines talks with dj-sets in a quite meditarian feeling. Situated on the river and with a beautiful view on the low meadow close to Hackescher Markt.

Totalschaden: "Datengesichert" (1989 – Tape / unreleased, produced by Andy Classen)
Back in 1989 Andi and Hannes formed their punk band 'Totalschaden' when they were only 9 and 13 years old: Andi played guitar, Hannes was on the mic, with the brothers Cornelius Kellner on the bass and Tobias Kellner on the drums.

Ultra Orange: "Day Six" (1996 - Extune Records)
After Totalschaden Andi picked up the drums and formed the band "Ultra Orange" (1993 - 1997), together with Claudia Milic and Matthias Lichtenegger. Their sound was more wave than punk. With Ultra Orange Andi released his first two records "Ride" and "Split" on the small underground label "Extune Records".

ha.te.li.b: "Turned" (1996 - unreleased)
Meanwhile Hannes had been infected with the electronic music fever and began to deejay. Under the artist name "ha.te.li.b" (from 1993) Hannes and his friend Linus Brand produced their first techno tracks and released their debut EP, "Plattform" on Tom Clark’s label "Gold Plate Music". Later they changed their name to "ha.te &amp; The Bad Financer" and released several tracks on the brothers own label "Festplatten".

beigeGT: "Knights Of The Jaguar" (2001 – L´Age d´or)
One year later the brothers joined forces again and formed „BeigeGT“ (since 1996) with Klaus Kiesswetter (bass), Martin Haygis (vocals, guitar) and Wolfgang Reutter (guitar). This time around Hannes was behind the Moog synthesizer and Andi on the drums. They signed to "L’Age d’Or" in 2001 and released several albums and EPs. BeigeGT´s cover version of DJ Rolandos "Knights of the Jaguar" as a response to UR fight with Sony Music, was one of the first Techno Rock combinations, years before it became popular.

Gebrüder Teichmann & Rubber Inc feat. Caliph8: "Transfer and Thoughts" (2007 – Goethe Institut / C/O Pop)
In the same year the Teichmann brothers worked with the electronic duo „Rubber Inc.“ in Manila, as part of the "Soundscapes Project" initiated by Hans Nieswandt and the Goethe Institute. They get more and more interested in intercultural and interdisciplinary projects and work on several live collaborations, for example with the traditional Vietnamese musician Pam Thi Hue or the Algerian Oriental jazz band 'Madar'.

They don't call it techno. They call it social music. Togetherness is the driving force for GEBRÜDER TEICHMANN and their extremely versatile activities. In the minds of Andi and Hannes Teichmann, music is a playground, a network of interdependent improvised DIY scenes.
Their approach turns a club or a concert venue into a meeting ground, forming a temporary space for shared ear-opening experiences. In Berlin alone, you can list Suicide Circus, Staatsoper, Berghain and Hamburger Bahnhof as places where GEBRÜDER TEICHMANN allowed for this kind of exchange to happen. But their vision is a global one: establishing grassroots connections from Pakistan to Angola, Sri Lanka to Mexico, taking in influences from Chicago house to contemporary music and electro-acoustic experiments. Noland—the name of the Teichmann's label couldn't reflect this approach any better.
The music of GEBRÜDER TEICHMANN is a force that's never stable, but defined by dynamism. After many appearances in improvised and contemporary music circles, the show at KOOKOO marks a return to their club roots. Their DJ sets reflect social and sonic relations, resonating experiences over continents and traditions. They push borders, are always in the making, never finished, never done. Between the two of them and their communication with the audience, the Teichmanns prefer anarchic motion over pilots.
CARLY FISCHER, on her flyer artwork, visualises responsibility in case of emergency. Is there anyone on the line on the other side of that radio device?
Fine artist YUKIHIRO TAGUCHI will also deal with this metaphor for decentralised control and accountability.
MIEKO SUZUKI and ARA, your Kookoo hosts, will join in, keeping in mind the solution offered by Laurie Anderson in her song From the Air, in the face of a rather disastrous situation:
... jump out of the plane ... there is no pilot ... you are not alone.

Im Rahmen der Reihe "Kino im Quartier - Berliner Perspektiven“ zeigt der Kulturraum Zwinglikirche e.V. Walter Ruttmann´s legendären Stummfilm "Sinfonie der Großstadt“ (1927).

Die Kamera führt durch einen Tag im Berlin der 1920er Jahre vom Morgengrauen bis in in die Nacht und erzählt von den Rhythmen der Großstadt mit all ihren Kontrasten.
Begleitet wird der Film vom DJ-Duo Gebrüder Teichmann. Im musikalischen Zentrum stehen Subkulturen und experimentelle Musiken Berlins, die untermalend, fragmentierend und zitierend ihrerseits Geschichten Berlins bis in die Gegenwart ziehen und diese mit den Bildern Ruttmanns verknüpfen.

Why say anything at all?
Why not just listen?
Headphones.
Turn up the volume and look how time bends before your eyes because that is what Robyn Schulkowsky and Andi and Hannes Teichmann do with their music.
They bend time.
They make a ring out of it or some sort of ellipse, and then they pull it straight again, they transform it into a rope, and then,
of course, they balance on it, forwards, backwards, half speed, double speed,
33 rounds per minute, or was it 45?
Just try both. World percussion meets Techno and Berlin club culture, one might be tempted to say. One would be wrong to do so. This is not just crossover, this is just not an „encounter“ between different generations, different experiences, different cultures, traditions and attitudes and form asossations of expressions, or, to put it in a more simple way, an „encounter“ between drums and gongs and bells and stones and on the other side hardware-electronic and sequencing, delay and reverb. This is far more complex. No need to put a label on it.

Berlin in den 90er Jahren - eine Hauptstadt der Loops und Beats: Nirgendwo sonst wurden die Klänge und Architekturen elektronischer Clubmusik so intensiv, varianten- und einfallsreich erkundet und zu so einzigartiger Qualität entwickelt. Ensemble Extrakte interpretiert in seinem neuen Projekt diese historische elektronische Musik Berlins aufs Neue - abgelauscht und neu-entwickelt von akustischen Musikern aus ganz anderen Kontexten: In traditionellen Musiken Indiens, Chinas oder Ghanas haben Loops und Beats oft ganz andere Ziele als Trance und Tanz, spielt der Umgang mit Klang eine andere Rolle, wollen die Architekturen der Musik oft an andere Stellen. Aber auch die europäische Neue Musik kennt Wiederholung, Iteration, Reihung als stilistische Techniken. Wie klänge experimentelle Clubmusik der 90er durch die Filter so verschiedener Musikkulturen? An emotional highlight of our project week @ The Mist in Nairobi - in summer 2024 - was the reunion with the MCs Abbas Kubaff, Gurugang and La Vosti, part of the crew with whom we recorded the phenomenal album "Welcome To The Madhouse" (Out | Here Records) in 2009 during the BLNRB project (our first self-designed music residency with the Goethe Institut Nairobi) and played great concerts in Nairobi, Berlin and Cologne till 2011. What a pleasure to see each other again 13 years later in Nairobi!  The session that followed was goosebumps and pure Hi Energy. From the very first note, there was a special energy in the room, but the energy we kept building up after a few minutes was truly unique - you can listen to the first 15 minutes of our 100% freestyle jam for yourself here.
Much love goes out to Tubbutec / Berlin for their amazing MC2oh2 mod, which transformed our Roland MC 202 into a hi-tech analogue live monster, just the week before our trip to Nairobi.

Zur ersten Festplatten Family im neuen Jahr laden die Teichmänner drei längjährigen Freundinnen und grosse Damen der Techno und DJ-Kultur ins Suicide. 
DJ und Musikerin Electric Indigo ist eine zentrale Figur der Österreichischen Elektronik Kultur.
Als Musikerin, Netzwerkerin und Kuratorin ist sie treibende Kraft der Szene und mit diversen Kulturpreisen ausgezeichnet worden, ihre DJ-Sets spiegeln ihr tiefgreifendes Musikverständnis wider; Immer auf der Suche nach neuen Klang und Strukturentwürfen innerhalb des Techno Kosmoses.
Acid Maria, langjährige Weggefährtin und Schwester im Geiste ist in Berlin leider nur noch selten zu hören, nachdem Sie zurück in die bayerische Heimat gezogen ist.
Sie ist seit der elektronischen Zeitrechnung eine unserer absoluten Lieblings-DJs und auch ihre Sets spannen einen Bogen durch die innovative Geschichte des Techno: Geographisch von Detroit und Chicago, über Köln, München nach Berlin, immer an dieser speziellen Schnittstelle, wo die 909 den Techno mit einem auf die Knochen reduzierten Funk und Soul verbindet und einem bewusst wird, was eigentlich so geil an elektronischer DJ-Musik sein kann.
Die Düsseldorferin DJ Mo kam zur Wende nach Berlin und tauchte schnell in der aufkommenden Clubszene ein, wo sie eine der musikalischen Wegbereiterinnen der Berliner Elektronik Kultur wurde: 
Von Ihrem ersten Club Elektro, dem Label Kollektiv Elektro Music Department, führt Ihr Weg weiter zur eigenen Künstler-Agentur Media Loca und dem von ihr mit-initiierten Festival „Heroines of Sound“. 
Und das findet sich auch in ihren DJ-Sets, welche selten gehörte Perlen im Berliner Nachtleben sind.
Electric Indigo, Acid Maria und Mo sind treibende Kräfte und Mitbegründerinnen des Female:Pressure Netzwerks.
Musikalisch umrahmt wird der Abend von den Gebrüder Teichmann.

"Begrifflichkeiten" is a composition we did for Public Radio Station Hessian Brodcast in Frankfurt/Main (Hessischer Rundfunk, hr2-kultur) as part of a series for John Cage 100th birthday. It´s based on the two terms "sound" and "music", that play a important part in Cage´s work. We extracted the two words from a lot of Cage interviews and put them in connection with our electroacustic piece. It also contains harmonium and field recordings from Algier, Hong Kong, Berlin and Zürich. Cage said once "the sound of traffic is always different whereas the sound of Mozart or Beethoven is always the same". This kind of variations are the drive of  "Begrifflichkeiten".
 
Gebrüder Teichmann, das ist das aus Regensburg stammende, in Berlin lebende und gemeinsam Platten auflegende, Musik machende, komponierende DJ-Geschwisterpaar Andreas und Hannes Teichmann (*1976/*1979). In ihrer für hr2-kultur realisierten John-Cage-Hommage namens „Begrifflichkeiten“ stehen zwei Wörter im Mittelpunkt: „Music“ & „Sound“. Zwei Wörter, die John Cage oft und gerne gesagt hat. Aus zahllosen seiner Interviews extrahiert, begegnen sie sich in dem elektroakustischen Stück der Gebrüder Teichmann in gespannt-entspannter, mithin angespannter Atmosphäre. Und das im Plural: Das akustische Ambiente - Field-Recordings aus Algier, Hong Kong, Berlin und Zürich sowie ein Harmonium und elektronische Klangwerkzeuge – stagniert nie, fluktuiert; changiert in andere Umgebungen, bestehend aus in sich verschliffenen Kettenreaktionen mit gelegentlichen, im wortwörtlichen Sinne, „Kunst-Fehlern“.  "Mozart“, so meinte John Cage einmal, „klingt immer gleich, der Verkehr immer anders." Solche Variationen sind die Befindlichkeiten in Gebrüder Teichmanns „Begrifflichkeiten“.

They don't call it techno. They call it social music. Togetherness is the driving force for GEBRÜDER TEICHMANN and their extremely versatile activities. In the minds of Andi and Hannes Teichmann, music is a playground, a network of interdependent improvised DIY scenes.
Their approach turns a club or a concert venue into a meeting ground, forming a temporary space for shared ear-opening experiences. In Berlin alone, you can list Suicide Circus, Staatsoper, Berghain, HAU and Hamburger Bahnhof as places where GEBRÜDER TEICHMANN allowed for this kind of exchange to happen. Their DJ sets reflect social and sonic relations, resonating experiences over continents and traditions. They push borders, are always in the making, never finished, never done.
But their vision is a global one: establishing grassroots connections from Pakistan to Angola, Sri Lanka to Mexico, taking in influences from Chicago house to contemporary music and electro-acoustic experiments. Noland--the name of Teichmann's label - couldn't reflect this approach any better.

Berlin based Gebrüder Teichmann are the two brothers Andi and Hannes Teichmann who work as electronic musicians, DJs, producers and cultural activists. Their work is not limited by style or genre borders. With their musical and cultural projects the two try to find new ways to build bridges.

With their special live electronic setup they collaborate with artists from a wide range of genres, from hip hop to classical music, from traditional to experimental music.

In the field of contemporary music they´ve worked with ensembles as Ensemble Modern or Ensemble Decoder and composers as Moritz Eggert or Leopold Hurt.
Beside that they perform with their father Uli Teichmann as Teichmann & Söhne.
The improvisation trio not only brings together two generations of german avantgarde musicians, but combines elements of world, freejazz, ambient, techno and krautrock.
As networkers they brothers developed intercultural projects in cooperation with Goethe Institutes around the world.

Since 2009 they have put together the project BLNRB with the Goethe-Institut Kenya including artists like Modeselektor, Jahcoozi, Just a Band, Ukoo Flani beside others and are part of the TEN CITIES project management, a research and collaboration project, focusing on history and present of the underground club scenes in the European cities of Berlin, Bristol, Kyiv, Lisbon and Naples and the African cities of Johannesburg, Cairo, Luanda, Lagos and Nairobi. Soundcamp Sri Lanka, the Mondmaschine Project in Mexico and Soundcamp Karachi follwoed. 
They curated several nights at Worldtronic Festival at Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin.

Their diverse musical activities DJing, giving workshops and playing live have taken them to over 60 countries as far as Afghanistan, Angola or Honduras.

Gebrüder Teichmann started getting into music in 1989 at the age of 9 and 12 years with their punk band Totalschaden before they discovered electronic music.
They´ve been an active part of the Berlin underground scene since the late 90s and have been playing all relevant Berlin clubs from Berghain/Panorama Bar, WMF to Bar25.
Since 2009 they are hosting regular nights at Suicide Circus Berlin.
Together and solo they have released on various labels, such as Kompakt, Ladomat, Killekill, Staubgold, Soundway, Outhere or Disko B and their own labels Festplatten, Teichtracks, NOLAND and NOLAND Tracks.
