Born and raised in Aarhus, Denmark, Simon Sorensen a.k.a. pH1 got an Alpha Juno when he was 21 and started playing with it to recreate his favorite tracks. That's how the journey into music production took off and culminated last year, when he started his own label Horizon Records, where he released "Ambition EP" thanks to which I discovered him and his music.

Tiella Sound Mix 032: pH 1

This track is inspired by the Mills of my home town (Bolton) and surrounding area and the warmth of northern people. In particular its about how they retook over these spaces after the hollowing out of the industrial north as production moved to India and the Far East. They are used for multitude of purposes from housing, to light industry, work spaces, art spaces, and a few acid house raves. The track starts with a simple beat and then gradually builds up layers of dark stabs, smooth modulating synths, and crazy lush pads, like a factory machine spinning into life or like the Northern spirit adapting to its new future.

Next up on our Digest series: the Glaswegian born, London based powerhouse... our very good friend, Scott Fraser!

1/2 of BodyHammer w/ Joe Hart (the seminal London party and record label) this is one of our very favourites. 

Taking it back to the roots, Scott's put together a 1hr 30 min torrent of jacking Chicago house, some classics, others more obscure. Chocked full of acid bass, hypnotic sound bites, and more sleaze than you can shake your butty to. We've been big fans of Mr. Fraser for a while now, it's great to finally get him on board for a Digest.

Here we are with another episode of our international mix series. This one is coming straight from the city of Bristol, by Paul Wise aka @placid_88. Paul is a veteran of the scene, collecting records from the late 80's and kicking asses on the dancefloor from the beginning of the nineties, becoming legendary for his sets of 303-drenched acid and his reputation as 'The DJ's DJ'. Nowadays, with his new project, the "We're going deep" label, he's releasing "new music for the dance floor, your front room or even just your headphones". 
He has cooked a straight quality mix of deepness, merging spacey techno and uplifting basslines, with his recognizable acidic touch, and filled in with fresh tunes and unreleased material as well.
