Gecko are a London based tropical pop band.

They have recently toured the UK with The Skints, including their biggest show so far at Camden's prestigious 'Koko'.

This summer they have appeared at Glastonbury festival and their single 'Gotta wait' has received Radio 1 play from Huw Stephens & Mike Davies' as well as BBC London & XFM.

Gecko - Making It Through

'Always' is the lead single from London singer-storyteller Gecko's brand new album 'Climbing Frame' out October 23rd.

The album reflects on childhood, both Gecko's own, including giving an empowering speech to a nursery (after having just begun the first year of primary school) as well as that of the kids who will inherit our world.

The title tracks tells the story of a tree that had fallen down in a storm in the middle of Queens Park. Without a seconds thought it had become a new climbing frame for the kids who frequented the park. Maybe
there's hope that the youngest people in this world will turn the apocalyptic hand that they've been dealt into something positive that we have not yet seen.

But where most saw an obstacle they just saw a path’

The heart of the album can be felt in the track 'Making it Through'. After discovering an early Gecko 'demo' recorded on a minidisc aged 13, he has added music 18 years on. Potentially this begins a life long project,
every 18 years a new ageing voice will be added, thus beginning the genre of time travel collaboration.

Using his trademark wit and warmth, Gecko dances on the line between humour and pathos to discuss a diverse range of subjects. ‘Can’t Know All the Songs’ is a musical response to the age old question ‘Mate!
Can you play Wonderwall?’ (Spoiler alert the answer is ‘no’) while ‘Laika’ is a heartbreaking tale written from the perspective of the Russian dog that was sent to Space on a one way mission in the 1950’s. Soaring’ tells the wistful story of a man in an old people’s home:

‘They call this a home, but I know it’s not mine’

He finds comfort in his childhood memories in nature and there’s an unexpected magical ending.

Gecko's first album 'Volcano' was 'Album of the year' in the Morning Star, he has toured across the world, from Stockholm to Auckland, he’s taken two successful shows to the Edinburgh Fringe and appeared at
Glastonbury festival 26 times. He’s shared stages with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Loyle Carner, Billy Bragg & Konnie Huq from Blue Peter.

He’s appeared on radio and TV including BBC Radio 1, BBC THREE, SKY ARTS, 6 Music, BBC London and BBC Scotland.
