Soukous music, also known as Lingala, has a rich history that spans over half a century. It originated in the Congo region, specifically in Kinshasa and Brazzaville, in the 1940s and 1950s.

 The genre evolved from traditional Congolese music, incorporating elements of Cuban rumba, samba, and other styles.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Soukous became a symbol of pan-Africanism, with musicians like Grand Kalle, Franco, and Tabu Ley Rochereau achieving widespread popularity across Africa. The genre's fast-paced rhythms, intricate guitar work, and harmonious vocals made it a staple of African music and African parties.

Soukous has also influenced other genres like Afrobeats, and its impact can be heard in the music of artists like  legendary Fela Kuti and King Sunny Adé. 

The genre has continued to evolve over the years, incorporating new styles and elements while maintaining its roots. This includes other sub genres like moutouashi,
Mayebo,
Ndombolo.....

We were inspired by the song "Like you promised" by Amber Brooks. At first it sounded like usual come Holy Spirit songs but later I found more depth in the song. I've heard longing for the Lord to come, like He promised. We read about this in John 14:3, Acts 1:11. One of best ways to describe the call to come is word maranatha.
