Andrea Greco, artist name Burden, is an Italian born, London based DJ and producer, and has recorded this week’s DETECT for us. 

A seeker of sound perfection, Burden’s music can best be described as a dynamic mix of groove and tension, energised with driving basslines, shadowy atmospheres and hypnotic leads. 

More recently he has co-founded the event ‘Revert’, whilst his own productions have seen success, being released through Blocaus.

Andrea Greco, artist name Burden, is an Italian born, London based DJ, producer and sound engineer.


Burden’s DJ career was born in Rome in 2011, when he had the chance to play alongside internationally renowned techno artists at Traintek; a leading underground party in the capital.


In 2013 he moved to London to focus solely on music. He graduated with a Masters degree in Sound Engineering from SAE Institute, all the while immersing himself in this new city rich with experiences, and fast becoming a key player in London’s underground music scene. 

Culminating together, these experiences sculpted Andrea’s signature, yet versatile sound.

In 2019, Burden’s rising talent was soon recognised by several renowned parties across London and Berlin, seeing him play in clubs such as Tresor, Griessmuehle, Village Underground and Fold.


In the studio, he is a relentless seeker of sound perfection; his music can be described as a dynamic mix of groove and tension, energised with driving basslines, shadowy atmospheres and hypnotic leads. 

From 2020 Andrea immersed himself into production, as can be heard with his remix of Truncate on the Homonymous label, a VA compiled by the French label Blocaus featuring alongside artists such as Oscar Mulero, Surgeon, Peter Van Hoesen, Function and many others as well as his latest release on the mighty Planet Rhythm.

Andrea Greco, known by his artist name Burden, is an Italian-born, London-based DJ, producer, and sound engineer with a deep-rooted passion for electronic music.

Andrea's journey in the world of DJing began in 2011 amidst the vibrant underground scene of Rome, where he first showcased his talent alongside esteemed techno artists at Traintek, a renowned party in the city.



In 2013, Andrea made the pivotal decision to relocate to London, seeking to further immerse himself in the global electronic music landscape. Pursuing a BA in Sound Engineering at the SAE Institute, Andrea dedicated himself to refining his skills while embracing the diverse cultural tapestry of his new home.



Over the years, Andrea has established himself as a respected figure in London's underground music scene, his signature style characterized by a seamless blend of groove and tension, energised by pulsating basslines, shadowy atmospheres and Hypnotic leads.



His contributions to the electronic music community have not gone unnoticed, with his talent garnering recognition from esteemed venues and parties across Europe, including appearances at renowned clubs such as Tresor, Griessmuehle, Village Underground, and Fold.



In addition to his prowess as a DJ, Andrea's creative endeavors extend to his work as a producer, with releases on respected labels such as Planet Rhythm, BCCO, Truncate and Drawner Records, among others.



Andrea is driven by a vision to contribute meaningfully to the Techno world. With a focus on shaping a better future for the scene, Andrea endeavors to uphold the core values of the movement while pushing the boundaries of its sound. So believe it or not this track was initially finished in December 2018. I realized that i just forgot to upload it at that time. I was over in south Korea - by Hankuk university at the time.  I did a ton of shows with Djng gigs and just rolled with a pretty good crowed. Most of them were just Djs lol, I was the only producer in the group. So i had a lot of things going on and well this and a few slipped my release. I will be releasing lost songs or songs I forgot to put up for the general public for the next few months. I have found about 10 songs that are done ... ya I guess I was slaking a little or just didn't have the time to do it... but ima get it done!!
Any ways, how good is your memory.. are there secrets? lost memories or time? Or was it all just in the back of your head like it was yesterday? Mines definitely complex so i made a complex track (at the time) about my brain. Well 6 years from this track it seems like it paid off... to explore crazy dimensions in my own head.

Against yourself. Around queer narratives.

Gegen is a complex word in German because it has two opposite meanings.

Historically speaking it means “against”, signifying all the counter cultural movements since the very beginning of youth cultures but if you apply the word to time, it means “around”. One meaning is closed, defined in terms of space. The other is open and undefined in terms of time. In the contemporary moment the idea of “enemy” – in which a thought and an action can be identifiable as “against” – is not there and is not clear anymore as power relationships changed through the development of post-modernism. And this gave space to markets to regenerate themselves through the queer-counter cultural movements by producing an oligopoly of empty events repeating themselves until their fast extinction and in the same time by crystallising the institutionalisation of big “queer meccas” which exercise more and more power on the scene. This process is verifiable in Berlin as the incubator of new world trends in the arts of entertainment.

This basic tension gives the spaces and the times for a new proposal to blossom from the ashes of the historical and infamous queer techno party called “SABOT°AGE BERLIN” which characterised fades of mutation in some of the wildest Friedricshain nights. The aim is playing with the solitude of the political meaning of GEGEN as a suicidal mechanism of the “self” or the sublime crisis of enemy subtraction as the aggression of dialectics. A linguistic game of pop art where the semantic putsch of “Gegen” becomes the broken mirror of its own impossibilities. The electric fear to find oneself multiple by being against oneself and unrecognisable. The dangers of being desireful in a psycho dramatic performance. The political practice of hallucinatory love to defy hate as antagonistic, identitarian mechanism.

Perceiving the idea of community as a demagogic form for bigger powers like religions, societies and markets to exercise their violence with the fake flag of politically correct partecipation, we do not wish to design a party just to give you a safe space and protection. We are not selling you the possibility to be “queer” for one night. We want to expose you to your own fears and pleasures by pushing you to understand how your own power mechanisms are produced. This is why we invite you to be GEGEN by performing your psychosis, by being the enemy of yourself, by thinking and being out of b/order and by destroying every rational thought.
