Bukowski Band were formed in Belgrade, Yugoslavia (Serbia now), active from 1985 to 1986. They performed live in various clubs and venues but never released any album back then. A tape with 4 songs, accidentally retrieved in 2021, is the only piece of evidence of their existence. Members of the band were Zoran Petrovic - vocals, Gorjan Krstic - synths and keyboards, Branko Jakovljevic - rhytm and drum machines and Vojin Dan - bass. Zoran Petrovic and Gorjan Krstic went on to form “Psihokratija” in 1988.

The Body Electric formed out of the remnants of Wellington punk band “The Steroids” in 1982. Originally they were a two-piece, Alan Jansson and Andy Drey, who both programmed and produced, but during their early rehearsals they were joined by actor Garry Smith on vocals before signing to Jayrem Records. Their debut single “Pulsing” was recorded in the 2ZM Studios. and spent 27 weeks in the New Zealand Singles chart, peaking at No.13 in April 1983, some 14 weeks after it first charted, despite the fact it was largely ignored by both mainstream and student radio. In mid-1983 they headed off with fellow Wellington post-punkers “The Spines” on the “Pulsing With Punch” tour of the lower half of the North Island, promoted by Wellington venue, The Last Resort's Sue Barlow. Following the tour success, Drey left and was replaced by bassist Wendy Calder from “The Spines”. After “Pulsing” they released several more well-received singles, two of which “Dreaming In A Life” and “Imagination” were moderate hits. Their first and only album “Presentation And Reality” came out in November 1983. It would spend 3 weeks in the charts, reaching No.32. In early 1984 they disbanded. Jansson moved permanently to Auckland, went into record production and had a global smash hit with “How Bizarre” by OMC in the mid-1990s. Smith went on to later manage The New Zealand Ballet Company.

Staying focus on releasing new bands and new material, our 39th release is dedicated to the contemporary Greek underground dark synth/EBM phenomenon that emerged mainly after the covid-19 lockdowns and the years that followed with cataclysmic events all over the world.
Tina (Night In Athens) began composing music to exorcise her demons while confined to her East London room during lockdown. Her debut EP, "Metropolis", dropped in 2021, featuring dark electro with a mix of coldwave. The Synth-A are self-proclaimed as a synth-noir pop band. They were created in 2020 just for fun, but things got serious when their first ever  song "Θυμάσαι πώς είναι να χορεύεις; (Do You Remember How It Feels To Dance?" was aired by various radio shows and night clubs. They are based in Athens and are consisted of Stavros Van der Wilt and Venetia Ioakim. The Man & His Failures started off in 2018 as a personal project by Manos Karakatsanis (Asylum Promises, Mani Deum) but soon, with the addition of Alekos Sorros and Dimitris Vlassopoulos, it evolved into a fully functional band. So far, they have released 2 EPs: "Persona Non Grata" (2018) and "MMXX EP" (2021), as well as "Devastations/R.Dannel", a split 7" with Incirrina and the compilation LP/CD "Chapter One: MMXX & More". Blakaut is the brainchild of Alkis Chatzoglou, started back in 2017. His sound moves along cold electronic paths and is inspired by life in Athens. This track was recorded in the spring of 2024. It's about the uncomfortable situations that you don't change in your life, so everything gets rusty. XVIV is a newly established electronic music project based in Athens. Its sound is influenced by the dystopian rock n’ roll vocals of Suicide, the repetitive and metallic bass of Nitzer Ebb, the psychedelic effects of dub and the raw energy of punk. Τhe oddly named Γεμάτος Αράχνες, Ρε Φίλε! (I'm Full Of Spiders, Man!) is a 3 member horror synth-punk band from Athens, Greece, which emerged from the Greek underground scene seemingly out of nowhere in September 2019. They first appeared as a support act at the "Le Prince Harry" gig at "Ίδρυμα 2.14" (Ιdryma 2.14) in October 2019. "Ξέρει Καράτε!" (He Practices Karate!) was created during the covid-19 lockdowns and is previously unreleased on vinyl. Moved by love, a warm feeling in the chest, tears and shivers, make up the meaning of Kama Muta. That's the way their music takes form, in the spirit of post-punk, synth and darkwave. Their first album "The Voices Burned" was released in early 2024 by Dystatik. The single "Δεν Ζητάνε Κανέναν" (They Ask Nobody) is the band's commentary on wildfires, a tragedy that is repeated year after year in Greece. Eddie Dark is an electric vampire from the heart of Athens writing self-aware synth-punk tracks about the horrors of being alive since 2022. He has released the album "Λουλούδια" (Flowers) so far on Geheimnis Music Productions, and is already preparing a second full length album. Παγανή Κυριακή (Pagani Kiriaki / Paganistic Sunday) is a musical duet and horror enthusiasts. They released their first self-titled record in 2024 and will return when the moons are right with new discordant music. Sensitive Content is a post-punk duet, based between Athens and Paris, featuring Manos Tzavolakis and Alexandre Moreau. The pair began composing music in late 2023, channelling a shared energy born out of life's despair, fading love and the anger towards a decaying society. Their sound is raw and direct, with minimalistic punk-fueled tracks and hit straight to the core.
The LP/Compilation will come out in November 2024 in 400 hand-numbered vinyl copies and two colours, the basic black one (200 copies) and transparent lime (200 copies). The vinyl mastering was made by Lakis Halkiopoulos at 216 Pro-Studio and the release includes an insert with lyrics, bios, credits and a download code.

Keeping our promise for fresh and active artists and projects, Geheimnis Records now brings you the second compilation of bands and artists who are taking their first musical steps and request our attention and appreciation. This time the material doesn't only focus on Greek artists. 5 are from France, Germany and Austria. Some of them have already released their first album or cassette tape, while others share their music through Bandcamp, YouTube and Soundcloud and this compilation is their first official discography. Geheimnis Records would like to thank them all for offering their music. Those who did it for the first time, those who provided a special edition of their song and those with whom we have collaborated in the past and still entrust their material to Geheiminis Records. 
“Hante.” is the solo project of Hélène de Thoury, the one half of the French duet “Minuit Machine”. She released her debut single on December 2014, and is about to release her debut album in the Summer of 2015. “Kristal Ann” is the voice of the Greek duet “Paradox Obscur”. She also has her own project (under her name) and the song “Killing Jokes” is written especially for this compilation, while her other song “Ashes of Hope” comes from her debut cd-album. “Monowelt” come from Berlin, Germany. Marta Raya and Daria Leere started recording songs last year and have played together since 2012. They have entrusted their soon to be completed debut album to our label. “Koma Koma” come from Vienna, Austria. Genio Revox, Davyd Mitma and Wolfgang Gray play their impressive guitars and accompany them with dark-deep vocals. This is their first release on a musical format. “Paradox Obscur” come from Rhodes Island, Greece. Kristal Ann sings and composes while her partner Toxic Razor plays, composes and experiments with many different styles and genres. “23rd Underpass” are the brain-child of Costas Andriopoulos who started the group back in 2008-2009. After some setbacks during those formative years, he found a steady vocalist in the face of Nadia Vassilopoulou and released a full-album last year. “Aga Wilk” is a female solo project from Berlin, Germany. Disco-Experimental sounds with Techno elements. The version of her song can be found only on this compilation.  She is expected to release her debut album in the Spring of 2015. “Minuit Machine” come from Paris, France. Last year Hélène de Thoury and Amandine Stioui released a successful debut album. The song on this compilation is a special remix exclusive to this compilation. The person behind the project “Impersonate or Die” is an artist named Nick Stonem. He comes from Athens, Greece and his aggressive Synth-Punk songs find their way onto vinyl grooves for the first time. Last but not least, “Regressverbot” from Thessaloniki, Greece are already known from their participation in our previous “No Radar” compilation. A full-length album is on the cards and has been scheduled for release on Geheiminis Records later this year or early 2016. 
The compilation will be out in late June – early July 2015, in 300 hand-numbered vinyl copies, half of them in black and half in transparent blue, including an insert with lyrics, photos and details.

Geheimnis Records is happy to announce the release of “Synthetic Soundscapes of Modern Urban Morality / Chapter 2”. New bands and artists that are for the most part, in the early stages of their dreams.  5 of them come from Greece, while 4 bands come from Europe. In particular : 
“Misfortunes” come from Thessaloniki, Greece and is a one man-project. Ioakim Vasiliadis is the person behind the synths. He started back in 2014 and his affection for the 80’s analogue revival can be clearly heard through his compositions. This is his very first time on vinyl with two songs “Λέω Να Το Βάλω Κάτω" (“I wonder if I should give up”) and “In The Streets Of Our City”. “Dislocation Genders” is a duo project which also comes from Thessaloniki, Greece. Nick K. Maldoror is familiar to analogue synth enthusiasts all over Europe, since he was the one half of the late great “Human Puppets”. He has been collaborating with George D. since 2012 and this is the first time a song of theirs is released to the public. “Doric” of course is already familiar (Stathis Leontiadis – the other band member of “Human Puppets”) having already released the majority of his work on vinyl. The last couple of years he has had a closer collaboration with the fashion-designer-icon-singer Valisia Odell (Phoenix Catscratch, Strawberry Pills, Father Breath) who has given a more operatic and “cursed” aspect to his analogue-synth based music. The song included here, is very typical and reflects their good chemistry. “Neon Lies” is the one-man project of Goran Lautar who hails from Zagreb, Croatia. He started his solo project in 2015 and released a tape-album in October 2016. Haunted, whining vocals blended with lo-fi minimal synth sounds. The 2 songs that are included in this compilation are his first releases on vinyl. “Whispering Sons” are from Brussels, Belgium and last year released one of the most promising albums of the post punk alternative genre, “Endless Party”. Their guitar-based music incorporates dark and atmospheric elements mixed with anguished and nervous vocals that give an exceptional tone of well-balanced post punk. The song included on this compilation, first appeared on their debut LP. “Tisiphone” come from Lyon, France. The 3-member band is also a guitar-based act, dark and gloomy with a steady bass line, heavy rhythm section and a distinctive guitar. Last year they released their self-titled debut cd and their contribution here is from that album. “Mitra Mitra” is the brain-child of Mahk Rumbae and Violet Candide. They are based in Vienna, Austria and have been together since 2014. Mahk is a member of the “Oppenheimer MKII” project and “Konstruktivists”, as well as the “Codex Empire” solo techno project. Violet Candide originally hails from New Zealand. The version of their minimal/electro song “Opportunity” is available only on this compilation. “RATS” is a duo project, from Thessaloniki, Greece. Elias Papadopoulos has been collaborating with Iro since 2015 and they are heavily influenced by witchhouse, dark wave and industrial sounds. Last year they released a cd-album which received many good reviews from various webzines and music portals. Last but not least, “Paralogik” are the brain-child of Eugene B. (already familiar with his project included in our “No Radar” compilation, “Etherial Movement”) already conceived in 2014. With the help of Nick L. they have created a music hybrid, heavily influenced by dark-electro with more harsh and aggressive elements. Their work is released here for the first time.
The compilation will be released on July 2017, in 300 hand-numbered copies, half of them on black and half on transparent purple. Vinyl mastering by Chris “Snake” Manolitsis.

Doric Feat. Valisia Odell - Madigan

Two musicians from Frankfurt am Main, Germany, Richard Kersten and Frithjof Krepp decided it was time to storm the charts with an electro pop-rock LP in German language. R.E.K. were enthusiastically signed by RCA Records. The mixture of pop, rock and electronic sounds was well received. One of the authors' main fears was the perceived danger of linking computer technology with means of production. Ultimately, robots would construct robots, and humans would be universally controlled by technology, while love would be viewed as a program error - "Computer Haben Herzschmerz" (Christine Rötig - female vocals). However, shortly after signing, RCA went bankrupt and the LP disappeared. Krepp and Kersten, after having produced two Richard Kersten solo LPs  ("Ensenada Amiga" for Jupiter Records in 1981 and "R.E.K.1" in 1983), both individually went on to write and produce in their individual studios, while they are still collaborating in various projects. Although the few existing photos suggest R.E.K. was a band project, they were the two leading players, helped by various studio players and recorded back then at Fred Schreier's "Europasound Studios".

R.E.K. - Computer Haben Herzschmerz (extended)

William Lennox (vocals, keyboards) and André Schreiber (bass), went to the same school in a small town in the north of Dortmund (Germany). In 1981, they decided to form a band, at the time when Postpunk / New Wave movement emerged. This was the birth time of the “Days Of Sorrow”. The first four piece line-up included Wolfram Huber (guitar) and Nicolai Sabotka (drums). John Tollhaus overheard them playing their song "Wild World" by chance, during a rehearsal and immediately offered the band to release this song on a New Wave sampler, he was planning to release. After staying for the entire rehearsal, he quickly changed his plans, wanting to produce the band's first 12” EP. Several months later, the EP “Remembering The Days” was published by Tollhaus Records in 1984. Later on, Claudio Stöber (keyboards) joined the band to relieve William of keyboard playing and Kurt Voigt (drums) replaced Nicolai on the drums. In 1985 Rainer Kitzmann replaced John Tollhaus as band manager and the "Days Of Sorrow" signed a contract with Rough Trade Records. Following up with two 7” single versions of "Wild World" and another 12” EP, called “A Thousand Faces” in 1986, shortly ahead of a scheduled Spanish tour, the band split up. In December 2017 William and André reformed "Days Of Sorrow", producing new material.

Kalte Nacht is a dark/synth project which was formed in Athens, Greece, in 2017 by the composer Nick Konstantinidis (synthesizers, drum machine, bass). In 2018, Myrto Stylou joined forces contributing with her vocals and from that moment on, they continued as a duet. This is their debut album, comprising of 8 tracks, revealing all their sins and inner thoughts inspired by the Athenian underground. Comes in 300 hand-numbered copies, half of them on black and half on yellow vinyls. Includes insert, sticker and download code.

Τhe oddly named "(I'm) Full Of Spiders, Man!" is a 3 member horror synth-punk band from Athens, Greece, which emerged from the Greek underground scene seemingly out of nowhere on September 2019 as a desperate attempt of honest expression against a reality that has simply gone a bit too far.
They first appeared as a support act at the "Le Prince Harry" gig at "Ίδρυμα 2.14" (Ιdryma 2.14) on October 2019 and at the same month they recorded and released their debut album on the independent punk label "Είσοδος Κινδύνου" (Eisodos Kindynou) on a limited run of tape cassettes.
In the old world, before the COVID 19 situation arose, the band managed to perform 5 times in total at different cities around Greece.
This notorious band is one of an awkward geometry of both dark atmosphere and rad energy, maintaining a humorous approach on their criticism against all things the modern world stands for.

Geheimnis Records/Music Productions was founded in August 2010. It's an indie record label, based in the centre of Athens, focusing on re-releases of lost and real hard to find sought-after records and cassettes. Focusing on the so-called Wave / Synth genre of the 80's and 90's, the purpose is to reveal obscure - and many times misunderstood - bands and artists to vinyl collectors and music enthusiasts, who are seeking into old record stores and the internet, just to find one piece at a time (and usually at a high cost...). Somehow, the label's name has to do with seeking lost treasures, therefore it's a secret (in English), a GEHEIMNIS (in German), μυστικό (in Greek), a secret (in French). The main difference is, that the purpose of the label is to expose this "secret" and not keep it for itself. And that's how the story begins !

In December 2011, almost one year after its first appearance, Geheimnis Records has officially entered the era of involving with new artists and releases of the contemporary synth / wave sound, linking the past with the future, the old with the new. And that's because rhythms and melodies didn't stop to be produced all these years, while talented artists are always an intriguing issue which keep our interest alive. So, the philosophy of the label, considering its involvement with new artists, has evolved in its deep meaning. The "secret" exists only in the very beginning. As long as the artist(s) - through our label - reveals his/her work, the "secret" is gone. Anything new has always a potion of secrecy and the label's initial purpose was, and still is, to find and uncover "secrets / geheimnisse".
