One of Magic De Spell's distinctive features as a band, since their 1980's start, was the constant quest for musical transformation.
Soon after the release of their second LP "Kiss The Mirror" in 1984, the band turned into a trio (George Scarlatos, Elias Aslanoglou and Theodore Vlachakis). They rejected their unique post-punk/dark/new wave sound for the sake of a more synth-oriented one. In February 1985 they made their first live appearance with this line-up at "Kyttaro" club. Two female vocalists were added in the process (Johnnee and Bessie).
They moved on with their new project head on and although that transformation was something very natural from the band's perspective, their friends and fans viewed it with skepticism.
They requested from their label to cancel their contract and they signed with "Enigma Records" which released the album "Cpt Blind" in December 1985. 
Their efforts were focused not only in creating a minimalist electronic sound, but in presenting a range of interesting sound samples and mixes, even with the addition of physical instruments. Many of the final recordings were made with the helping hand of several fellow musicians. Furthermore, the contribution of their new label "Enigma Records" in the overall remarkable production can't be overlooked.
With this line up, they presented their new LP in Athens, Thessaloniki and many other cities, mainly in southern Greece.  They continued performing live, especially in Athens, while re-interpreting many of their older songs to match with their new musical style. In the late 80's (around 1988-89) all members embarked on individual projects (Alice In A Nightmare - Pedia Tou Iliou e.t.c.). The English speaking/lyrics version of Magic De Spell appeared live for one last time in 1991 during the promotion of the "Best Of" LP entitled "A Story - The Best And The Rest" which included many tracks from the "Cpt Blind" LP and actually marked the end of their New Wave/Post Punk era. 
Geheimnis Music Productions is pleased to announce the reissue of the album "Cpt Blind", in 250 hand-numbered copies, on transparent blue vinyl. The LP is a complete replica of the original one, including the printed inner sleeve with the lyrics and credits. Out in February 4th, 2022.

Bukowski Band were formed in Belgrade, Yugoslavia (Serbia now), active from 1985 to 1986. They performed live in various clubs and venues but never released any album back then. A tape with 4 songs, accidentally retrieved in 2021, is the only piece of evidence of their existence. Members of the band were Zoran Petrovic - vocals, Gorjan Krstic - synths and keyboards, Branko Jakovljevic - rhytm and drum machines and Vojin Dan - bass. Zoran Petrovic and Gorjan Krstic went on to form “Psihokratija” in 1988.

ExKurs : In the late 70's, Michael Hirsch and Pierangelo Maset met in the German city of Kassel and -  impressed by the British Punk-Explosion - founded the bands "Wankers" and "Modern Entertainment", which became later ExKurs in 1980. In 1981 they signed with the majorlabel Konkurrenz/Phonogram and released the LP “Fakten Sind Terror”. In comparison with the “Neue Deutsche Welle” (German New Wave) trend pushed by the media, ExKurs have been too uncommercial with their wave sound and didn´t had a big breakthrough, only the song “Warten” (”Waiting”) found its way on some compilations. After some line-up changes and the moving of some band members to various cities, there was no more continuity in the band and ExKurs finally split up in 1983.

Romantične Boje were formed in 1983, after the breakup of the punk-band “Elektromagnetno Zavarivanje Kostiju”. The founding members were : Zoran Cvetković (Cvele) synths and vocals, Goran Veljković (Gax) synths and Goran Radenković (Radenko) drum machine. Their first recordings were made at “Radio Niš” studios in 1983/84 and the video for the song “Tišina“ has been produced by the “Radio Televizija Beograd”. The band was on hiatus from September 1984 until October 1985 due to army duty. In 1986 the demo album "Romantične Boje" was released and in 1987 negotiations began with the record label PGP-RTB but weren‘t successful and led to the brake up of the band.

Romanticne Boje - Tišina

Seppuku is an electronic pop band originating from the small city of Eksjö in southern Sweden. The single “Under Your Control”/”New Illusion” was recorded during a sunny weekend in the spring of 1985 in the local Falks studio. It was produced by Captain Mannequin, then a high profile member of another Swedish band, the great “Ubangi”. In the time of the recording the band was consisting of Doc Ron (vocals/synths), Raz (bass synth), Togga Papp (synths) and Conda (synth drums). The technical equipment used on the record : Boss DR-110, Minimoog, Yamaha DX7, Yamaha SK15, Yamaha CS01, Logan String Melody and Synsonics synth drums. The single was pressed in just 500 copies and has never been re-issued.

Seppuku - Under Your Control

The Body Electric formed out of the remnants of Wellington punk band “The Steroids” in 1982. Originally they were a two-piece, Alan Jansson and Andy Drey, who both programmed and produced, but during their early rehearsals they were joined by actor Garry Smith on vocals before signing to Jayrem Records. Their debut single “Pulsing” was recorded in the 2ZM Studios. and spent 27 weeks in the New Zealand Singles chart, peaking at No.13 in April 1983, some 14 weeks after it first charted, despite the fact it was largely ignored by both mainstream and student radio. In mid-1983 they headed off with fellow Wellington post-punkers “The Spines” on the “Pulsing With Punch” tour of the lower half of the North Island, promoted by Wellington venue, The Last Resort's Sue Barlow. Following the tour success, Drey left and was replaced by bassist Wendy Calder from “The Spines”. After “Pulsing” they released several more well-received singles, two of which “Dreaming In A Life” and “Imagination” were moderate hits. Their first and only album “Presentation And Reality” came out in November 1983. It would spend 3 weeks in the charts, reaching No.32. In early 1984 they disbanded. Jansson moved permanently to Auckland, went into record production and had a global smash hit with “How Bizarre” by OMC in the mid-1990s. Smith went on to later manage The New Zealand Ballet Company.

Geheimnis Music Productions continues it’s amazing streak with the release of the new Data Fragments LP called "Total Absence Of Light". Data Fragments formed in 2017 and stood out from the start with their raw Post Punk energy. Having released their first S/T album in 2019 via our label, quickly became a valuable piece of the blooming  Dark Wave / Post Punk scene. After a few years of absence due to some post- apocalyptic fantasy came true, the Athenian Post Punk band arose from this darkness with its new LP and a new member. 
Data Fragments switched to full analogue mode with Vangelis Felonis on drums joining Panos Dedepsidis (Guitar & Vocals), Stathis Leontiadis (Bass) and Panos Dimopoulos (Synthesizers).
"Total Absence Of Light" consists of the band's deepest fears, insecurities and regrets. Inner demons that hide in their darkest feelings come in life through the reflective lyrics. Dark and noisy tunes created by guitars and synthesizers and strong rhythms by the drums and bass set the atmosphere that emphasizes the lyrical subject.
The album will be released in December 22nd, 2023, in 311 hand-numbered copies, 161 on black and 150 on transparent green vinyl. The release includes a fold-out insert with lyrics, credits, photo and a download code.

Geheimnis Music Productions finally presents the full debut album on vinyl of the prominent new-wave/post-punk quartet "Radio Sect". 
They were formed in March 2019 by Nassos Vlachakis, Nik Panik, Michael Stefanidis and Yiannis Voulgaris and on November 9th of that same year, they made their first live appearance as a support band at the Astronauts gig at the “An" club. One month later,  they entered the studio and recorded live their first EP "State of Emergency". It included 6 tracks that paved their mark as a "stage" band. Mixing, mastering and production of the EP was made by band members, Nassos Vlachakis and Yiannis Voulgaris. The EP came out on January 2020, on digital form, and one month later, on tape. In February 28th, 2020 they presented their EP at "Idrima 2.14" live stage. From March 2020 onwards and during the covid-19 lockdowns, they focused on writing new material. In 2022 Yiannis Voulgaris, left the band and in 2023 Babis Antaloudakis came to his place as the main drummer. In September 2023, they finished the recordings of their debut LP, titled, “Wired”.  Produced By Nassos Vlachakis, mixed and mastered on tape by Theodoros Bournas, ”Wired”  is the band’s first full-length release compiled by 8 new great sounding tracks.
In February 8th, 2024, "Wired" will come out in 320 hand-numbered vinyl copies, half of them on black and half on transparent orange vinyl. It includes an insert with lyrics and a download code.

Keeping our promise for fresh and active artists and projects, Geheimnis Records now brings you the second compilation of bands and artists who are taking their first musical steps and request our attention and appreciation. This time the material doesn't only focus on Greek artists. 5 are from France, Germany and Austria. Some of them have already released their first album or cassette tape, while others share their music through Bandcamp, YouTube and Soundcloud and this compilation is their first official discography. Geheimnis Records would like to thank them all for offering their music. Those who did it for the first time, those who provided a special edition of their song and those with whom we have collaborated in the past and still entrust their material to Geheiminis Records. 
“Hante.” is the solo project of Hélène de Thoury, the one half of the French duet “Minuit Machine”. She released her debut single on December 2014, and is about to release her debut album in the Summer of 2015. “Kristal Ann” is the voice of the Greek duet “Paradox Obscur”. She also has her own project (under her name) and the song “Killing Jokes” is written especially for this compilation, while her other song “Ashes of Hope” comes from her debut cd-album. “Monowelt” come from Berlin, Germany. Marta Raya and Daria Leere started recording songs last year and have played together since 2012. They have entrusted their soon to be completed debut album to our label. “Koma Koma” come from Vienna, Austria. Genio Revox, Davyd Mitma and Wolfgang Gray play their impressive guitars and accompany them with dark-deep vocals. This is their first release on a musical format. “Paradox Obscur” come from Rhodes Island, Greece. Kristal Ann sings and composes while her partner Toxic Razor plays, composes and experiments with many different styles and genres. “23rd Underpass” are the brain-child of Costas Andriopoulos who started the group back in 2008-2009. After some setbacks during those formative years, he found a steady vocalist in the face of Nadia Vassilopoulou and released a full-album last year. “Aga Wilk” is a female solo project from Berlin, Germany. Disco-Experimental sounds with Techno elements. The version of her song can be found only on this compilation.  She is expected to release her debut album in the Spring of 2015. “Minuit Machine” come from Paris, France. Last year Hélène de Thoury and Amandine Stioui released a successful debut album. The song on this compilation is a special remix exclusive to this compilation. The person behind the project “Impersonate or Die” is an artist named Nick Stonem. He comes from Athens, Greece and his aggressive Synth-Punk songs find their way onto vinyl grooves for the first time. Last but not least, “Regressverbot” from Thessaloniki, Greece are already known from their participation in our previous “No Radar” compilation. A full-length album is on the cards and has been scheduled for release on Geheiminis Records later this year or early 2016. 
The compilation will be out in late June – early July 2015, in 300 hand-numbered vinyl copies, half of them in black and half in transparent blue, including an insert with lyrics, photos and details.

Impersonate Or Die - Spiegel

Hailing from Jersey, Channel Islands, U.K., Turquoise Days was formed in 1981 by Luciano Brambilla and David Le Breton. Throughout the 1980s, they self-released many cassettes, as well as the renowned masterpiece "Grey Skies / Blurred" 7'' single”. Their music can be described as melodic, emotive cold/minimal wave. David and Luciano met at a nightclub on the surfers’ beach at St. Ouens, Jersey, called "Waves" that played alternative music at the peak of disco and MOR music. They played many live gigs in Jersey starting with their own instrumental intro music “Fragments Of Glass (Hide My Eyes)” which had Russian radio broadcasts incorporated and their own light show and Chris Petra, the sound engineer, became the bass player contributing bass to later songs such as "Scattering Seeds", "Feed The Flame" e.t.c. They recorded and released various cassettes namely "Splintered Colours" ('81), "Alternative Strategies" ('82), "Valued Collection" ('83), "The Sincerity Machine" ('84) and "Moods" ('85) and  the 7” single "Grey Skies”/ “Blurred”. Unfortunately potential follow up songs such as "Tonight", "Feed The Flame" and "Turning Blue" were never released as singles. However, in the recent years, much has been re-released and is available on various digital platforms, vinyl and cassette-tapes.

Two musicians from Frankfurt am Main, Germany, Richard Kersten and Frithjof Krepp decided it was time to storm the charts with an electro pop-rock LP in German language. R.E.K. were enthusiastically signed by RCA Records. The mixture of pop, rock and electronic sounds was well received. One of the authors' main fears was the perceived danger of linking computer technology with means of production. Ultimately, robots would construct robots, and humans would be universally controlled by technology, while love would be viewed as a program error - "Computer Haben Herzschmerz" (Christine Rötig - female vocals). However, shortly after signing, RCA went bankrupt and the LP disappeared. Krepp and Kersten, after having produced two Richard Kersten solo LPs  ("Ensenada Amiga" for Jupiter Records in 1981 and "R.E.K.1" in 1983), both individually went on to write and produce in their individual studios, while they are still collaborating in various projects. Although the few existing photos suggest R.E.K. was a band project, they were the two leading players, helped by various studio players and recorded back then at Fred Schreier's "Europasound Studios".

R.E.K. - Computer Haben Herzschmerz (extended)

"Private Blue" was a studio project created by Horst Schnebel (composition, keyboards and production), Frank Meyer-Thurn (composition and production), Camilla Hüther (lyrics) and Ute Berling  (female vocals on "She's Love"). They met in 1984 during a studio session in Horst's and Ute's recording studio "S17music" near Mannheim, Germany and decided to form a team and bring their creativity together. It was the time when the legendary "Sound of Frankfurt" was establishing in Germany. Around that time, they founded their own production company "Two 'n' You" and until the end of their collaboration in 1989, they created various projects such as "Rewind" (1985), "MC-2" (1987) and "Doctorin D" (1988). They never performed live.

Private Blue - She's Love (12'' Version)

William Lennox (vocals, keyboards) and André Schreiber (bass), went to the same school in a small town in the north of Dortmund (Germany). In 1981, they decided to form a band, at the time when Postpunk / New Wave movement emerged. This was the birth time of the “Days Of Sorrow”. The first four piece line-up included Wolfram Huber (guitar) and Nicolai Sabotka (drums). John Tollhaus overheard them playing their song "Wild World" by chance, during a rehearsal and immediately offered the band to release this song on a New Wave sampler, he was planning to release. After staying for the entire rehearsal, he quickly changed his plans, wanting to produce the band's first 12” EP. Several months later, the EP “Remembering The Days” was published by Tollhaus Records in 1984. Later on, Claudio Stöber (keyboards) joined the band to relieve William of keyboard playing and Kurt Voigt (drums) replaced Nicolai on the drums. In 1985 Rainer Kitzmann replaced John Tollhaus as band manager and the "Days Of Sorrow" signed a contract with Rough Trade Records. Following up with two 7” single versions of "Wild World" and another 12” EP, called “A Thousand Faces” in 1986, shortly ahead of a scheduled Spanish tour, the band split up. In December 2017 William and André reformed "Days Of Sorrow", producing new material.

Kalte Nacht is a dark/synth project which was formed in Athens, Greece, in 2017 by the composer Nick Konstantinidis (synthesizers, drum machine, bass). In 2018, Myrto Stylou joined forces contributing with her vocals and from that moment on, they continued as a duet. This is their debut album, comprising of 8 tracks, revealing all their sins and inner thoughts inspired by the Athenian underground. Τhe oddly named "(I'm) Full Of Spiders, Man!" is a 3 member horror synth-punk band from Athens, Greece, which emerged from the Greek underground scene seemingly out of nowhere on September 2019 as a desperate attempt of honest expression against a reality that has simply gone a bit too far.
They first appeared as a support act at the "Le Prince Harry" gig at "Ίδρυμα 2.14" (Ιdryma 2.14) on October 2019 and at the same month they recorded and released their debut album on the independent punk label "Είσοδος Κινδύνου" (Eisodos Kindynou) on a limited run of tape cassettes.
In the old world, before the COVID 19 situation arose, the band managed to perform 5 times in total at different cities around Greece.
This notorious band is one of an awkward geometry of both dark atmosphere and rad energy, maintaining a humorous approach on their criticism against all things the modern world stands for.

Geheimnis Records/Music Productions was founded in August 2010. It's an indie record label, based in the centre of Athens, focusing on re-releases of lost and real hard to find sought-after records and cassettes. Focusing on the so-called Wave / Synth genre of the 80's and 90's, the purpose is to reveal obscure - and many times misunderstood - bands and artists to vinyl collectors and music enthusiasts, who are seeking into old record stores and the internet, just to find one piece at a time (and usually at a high cost...). Somehow, the label's name has to do with seeking lost treasures, therefore it's a secret (in English), a GEHEIMNIS (in German), μυστικό (in Greek), a secret (in French). The main difference is, that the purpose of the label is to expose this "secret" and not keep it for itself. And that's how the story begins !

In December 2011, almost one year after its first appearance, Geheimnis Records has officially entered the era of involving with new artists and releases of the contemporary synth / wave sound, linking the past with the future, the old with the new. And that's because rhythms and melodies didn't stop to be produced all these years, while talented artists are always an intriguing issue which keep our interest alive. So, the philosophy of the label, considering its involvement with new artists, has evolved in its deep meaning. The "secret" exists only in the very beginning. As long as the artist(s) - through our label - reveals his/her work, the "secret" is gone. Anything new has always a potion of secrecy and the label's initial purpose was, and still is, to find and uncover "secrets / geheimnisse".
