Ruth injects Vale with a drug called "ephemerol," which restores his sanity by temporarily inhibiting his scanning abilities, and teaches him to control them. ConSec is recruiting scanners to stop a malevolent underground ring of scanners led by Darryl Revok, a former mental patient who was driven mad from hearing uncontrollable streams of thoughts.


Revok, on his quest to kill opposing scanners, infiltrates a ConSec marketing event and explodes the head of a ConSec scanner. ConSec security head Braedon Keller advocates shutting down their scanner research program but Ruth disagrees, believing the scanners are the next stage of human evolution, and argues that the assassination demonstrates Revok's danger. Ruth brings in Vale and asks him to help infiltrate Revok's group.


Unknown to Ruth, Keller is working for Revok and informs him of Ruth's infiltration plan. Revok dispatches assassins to follow Vale as he visits an unaffiliated scanner named Benjamin Pierce, a successful yet reclusive sculptor who copes with his abilities through his art. Revok's assassins murder Pierce, but Vale reads Pierce's dying brain and learns of a group of scanners, led by Kim Obrist, who oppose Revok's group. Vale tracks down Obrist and attends a meeting, but Revok's assassins strike again; only Vale and Obrist survive.


Vale learns of a pharmaceutical company, Biocarbon Amalgamate, which he soon discovers Revok is using to distribute large quantities of ephemerol under a ConSec computer program called "Ripe." Vale and Obrist return to ConSec to investigate, and Ruth admits that he founded Biocarbon Amalgamate and suggests Vale cyberpathically scan the computer system to learn more. Keller attacks Obrist and kills Ruth while Vale and Obrist flee the ConSec building. Vale cyberpathically hacks into the computer network through a telephone booth and downloads ephemerol shipment information directly into his mind. Keller is killed when the computer explodes during his attempt to intercept Vale. Vale and Obrist visit a doctor on the list of ephemerol recipients and discover that it is prescribed to pregnant women, turning their children into scanners. Revok's group captures Vale and Obrist and take them to the Biocarbon Amalgamate plant.





Revok reveals to Vale that they are both children of Ruth, who developed ephemerol as a sedative for pregnant women. Love books? You need a home library! I love libraries. When I was a little kid, and people asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always said that I would be an author and a librarian. Many years later, I've written a few books (Excellence In Literature, Transcripts Made Easy, and Get a Jump Start on College), countless articles, and am working on many more. But I'm not a real librarian yet. Like many other booklovers, though, I've found ways to build a good home library without spending a fortune.


If you begin building a serious library, you'll soon find that you need bookshelves. Lots of bookshelves. I've found that sheets of particleboard can be sawed into 6" deep strips at a pretty reasonable cost per shelf. A 4' x 8' sheet of particleboard can yield a pretty decent ceiling-height bookcase.


With a little imagination, you can customize these simple shelves to march up a flight of stairs, or wrap around a room. Your library will soon be looking good! The bottom line is, you can have a great home library without paying anywhere near new book prices.

Most docks, piers, and their pilings are made of wood. With time wood always deteriorates, especially when submerged in water. Shipworms, barnacles, weather, waves, natural disasters, etc. can all aid in the destruction of your wood. Luckily, there are ways to prevent and protect against piling deterioration.


This picture was taken from our dock and you can see all of the barnacles on the piling; the longer they are allowed to grow, the greater their adhesion. We have to remove them from the boats because they will slow us down and cost more fuel.


The "Barnacle Cutter" is an attachment specially designed for use with the AS-18 HB, AS-16 HB, AS-3M9PP, or the AST-P-789, and developed for underwater removal of barnacles and other encrusted sea growth from steel, concrete and wood pilings, seawalls, bridge supports, bulkheads and ships. The attachment's outstanding feature is its ability to remove 6" (152.4 mm)of barnacle-type growth at the rate of 3 to 6 sq. ft. per minute (278709 sq. mm to 557418 sq. mm per minute), and the capability of removing up to 18" (457.2 mm) of sea growth.


Here's how it works...as the attachment advances across the surfaces being cleaned, the outside knocker-cutter bars that are attached to the tool's outside housing (or diameter) shatter the barnacles and other heavy growth, while the rotating inside hardened steel cutting wheels follow up with their chipping and scraping action which attacks and removes the tough barnacle adhesive and balance of material left by the outside knocker-cutter bars, leaving the surface clean. I extract the contents of the zip folder into a folder on my hard drive, then i open up the sketchup file and the message that is on the image that i attached pops up. If i attempt to save the file in any way, after i shut down sketchup and restart my laptop, the file is not in the folder that it was saved in. As I have no TV and no HDMI capable monitor, I have to use composite video out (I have an adapter for that for my computer), however I have no idea where the switch is to go from HDMI to Composite. Can someone tell me how I can get to that setting? OS 4.50 if that's relevant.


Objective: 
 To describe, using a three-dimensional finite element (FE) model, the initial force system generated during bodily movement of upper canines with plastic aligners with and without composite attachments.


Materials and methods: 
 A CAD model of an upper right canine, its alveolar bone and periodontal ligament, thermoformed plastic aligner, and two light-cured composite attachments were constructed. A FE model was used to analyze the effects of imposing a distal movement condition of 0.15 mm on the aligner (simulating the mechanics used to produce a distal bodily movement) with and without composite attachments.


Results: 
 In terms of tension and compression stress distribution, without composite attachments a compression area in the cervical third of the distal root surface and a tension area in the apical third of the mesial surface were observed. With composite attachments, uniform compression areas in the distal root surface and uniform tension area in the mesial root surface were observed. Compression areas in the active surfaces of the composite attachments were also observed. In terms of movement patterns, an uncontrolled distal inclination, with rotation axis between the middle and cervical root thirds, was observed without composite attachment. Distal bodily movement (translation) was observed with composite attachment.


Conclusions: 
 In a three-dimensional FE analysis of a plastic aligner system biomechanically supplementary composite attachments generate the force system required to produce bodily tooth movement; the absence of biomechanically supplementary composite attachments favors the undesired inclination of the tooth during the translation movements.

Even though no direct physiologic evidence proving that myo-tendinous junctions at the end of myofibers are sites of force transmission is available, these locations are accepted to support this function, because its specialized morphology resembles that of load-bearing membranes in structure and location: Its design is fit for force transmission of force exerted by myofibers to tendinous fibrous material. Shearing of the interface between these structures is thought to be stronger than direct tensile transmission. On the basis of morphological studies of 'in-series fibered muscle' and biomechanical modeling it has been argued previously that force could also be transmitted laterally from the tapered ends of myofibers onto in series myofiber via the intramuscular connective tissue component. Shearing of the interfaces between myofibers is hypothesized to be the mechanisms of transmission. The interfaces are made up of basal membranes of both myofibers and their common endomysium. The issue of lateral force transmission from myofibers has not been addressed for whole muscle, in which myofibers are attached at both ends to tendinous aponeuroses, nor is any direct experimental evidence available about possible functional importance of this phenomenon in whole muscle. The primary objective of this presentation is to review available literature on myo-tendinous and myo-fascial force transmission, present evidence from experiments involving tenotomy, fasciatomy and aponeurotomy regarding its importance and consider implications for our thinking about muscle(s) and movement.</
