The label boss of both Float records and OOM Records pioneers a forward-thinking approach to electronic music; nodding to the past while looking towards the future, he has found a fusion of grooviness and grittiness that never grows old. With releases on labels such as Figure and with artists like Psyk and Henning Baer getting involved, it is clear that Float represents a movement and there is no stopping in sight. The future is looking groovy, and TWR72 is here to lead the way!

Sciahri joins for DifferentSound Podcast #098.

Italo/Iranian DJ and Producer Sciahriar ‘Sciahri’ Tavakoli has been meandering throughout the spectrum of Techno ever since his 2014 debut EP on Ilian Tape ‘Mysterious Love’. His output has touched the functional paradigms of this genre as much as strongly texture-focused experimentation. This is reflected on his multi-faceted DJ sets. His significance in the scene has been established via some of its most influential record labels, such as Opal Tapes, Manhigh, Semantica, Mord, and, in parallel, via his own outlet Sublunar Records since 2017. This has been complemented by his production with German producer Desroi (Avian / Semantica) and within the leftfield techno/electronica duo UNKNOT with electroacoustic musician Emanuele Porcinai (Contort / Subtext). With his label Sublunar he has been contributing to shaping the sound of contemporary Techno, releasing affirmed as well as up-and-coming artists such as Svreca, Nuel, Refracted, Donor, Nh. He has played in some of the most influential clubs and events in Europe such as Tresor Berlin / Herrensauna, Dude Club Milan, River Port Kiev and many others.

Sometimes the darkest feelings provide, in a painful paradox, the biggest of pleasures. The DJ and producer @insolate_official demonstrates the truth of this analysis by producing rough & dark techno infused with emotion inspired by her 20 years as a DJ.

Hailing from Osijek, Croatia, on the wide Croatian East – a town that at first glance a heavy industrial atmosphere overshadows - this is where she made first steps as a DJ back in 1997 before taking over European and worldwide clubs. She's already played some of the world’s most renowned clubs including Berghain, Rex, Tresor, Under Club, Club d’Anvers, Unter, Exit Festival, Tomorrowland, ADE and Dimensions Festival plus numerous Colombian tours over the years and USA tour and Argentina added to the list in 2018.

As a producer, she's had a string of releases on highly respected labels including DJ Deep's Deeply Rooted, Marcelus’s Singular and Developer’s Modularz - supported and played by some of techno's finest. She also released the stellar Obscure Object Of Desire EP on JoeFarr's new User Experience imprint, two original tracks that stroke the perfect balance between groove, power and emotion. She also contributed to Ben Sim’s compilation Tribology among giants as Planetary Assault Systems, Oscar Mulero, Steffi etc. and also made super interesting collaboration with french producer Arnaud le Texier and released EP with him for Prodigal Son.

Insolate is also a major contributor to the Croatian techno scene, so much so that she was in Ibiza to receive the award for "Dance Nation of the Year" at the DJ Awards on behalf of her nation. She  also run the event series HUSH in her native Osijek.

The success of the Hush nights caught the attention of Red Bull Music Academy and Dimensions – both of which they have hosted official events for. Insolate being an international messenger of techno was recognised by Ambassador award that gave her a title "Croatia’s ambassador overseas" for 2017.

The final part of putting Osijek on the techno map was taken in 2015 with the launch of the label Out Of Place. The label was named in honour of the beautiful struggle of carving your own way into the scene from a place that's well off the grid from the traditional capitals of techno.

As a DJ, Insolate is well known for her no-compromise, pure-bred techno sets. It's clear to anyone who's seen her perform that she's an artist with a lot of experience but also plenty of inspiration and ambition, and a deep knowledge of techno. She is simply a natural presence in a DJ booth. If you've seen her play, you will know exactly what this means.

Dragomir Syarov’s love for electronic music sparked in the late 90s, but it was techno that truly set him on a transformative journey, shifting him from a passionate collector to an underground DJ. After refining his skills at local Bulgarian events, his move to London widened his musical palette, diving into ambient, deep house, jazz, vintage easy listening and classic music. These explorations sharpened his ear, resulting in a unique style that blends state-of-the-art techno through his artistic vision. The pandemic spurred his leap into production and he continuously explores sonic frequencies more deeply. By late 2021, he returned to Bulgaria, ready to dive back into the Bulgarian underground scene and leave his mark.
