A grade schooler in the 80s, Gene grew up in the House hotbed of Chicago. Like alot of kids in Chicago both then and now Gene was drawn to DJing. A skinny kid who skipped school lunches so he could get a new record or two at the end of the week, equipment was hard to come by and after being a basement jock for a while, did his first house party for a cousin using a couple of improvised turntables he picked up at Silo.

His love for music and a newly discovered knack for engineering eventually helped him through the normal breeding grounds for DJs. House parties, school dances, eventually some club spots, raves and warehouse parties in the 90s, as well as spots on local college stations in Chicago

These days, Gene splits his time between 'real world' responsibilities, music endeavours and providing commentary as the cheif opinionator at FlipFob.
