”L’heure Bleue” is not only the french term for the so-called “blue hour”, but also the title of our new EP on Broque. And, similar to Ingeborg Bachmann’s poetic depiction of the blue hour in her same-titled poem, Olkaa captures the magic of this short-lived moment where the night meets the day with his debut EP. Julien Combette, as our Lyon-based artist is called when he is not doing music, masters the art of piling layer after layer of melodic synths into a cinematic arc of suspense. No matter how you like to call his sound – shoegaze rave, electronica or even trance – the music entirely speaks for itself and embraces you in a captivating grip from start to end. With its multi-layered approach to build up melodies from simple hooks into a complex walls of sound brimming with harmonies, the EP recalls the music of yet another Frenchman, Erwan Castex alias Rone. At the same time, it shows glimpses of Julien’s history in rock bands, for instance, through simple yet effective trumpet- and guitar snippets contributed by himself. And it also speaks of his love of the border community sound (if there ever was such a thing). These five tracks make you wanna loose control on the dancefloor while at the same time wanting to ly down in the grass to watch soap bubbles and butterflys floating towards the blue sky. And that really is the best state of emotion music can evoke.

After another successful release from debut artist ‘Chapter’, which once again, received an 8/10 rating from Mixmag, Synchronicity are back with what they are hoping is to be their biggest release to date…cue Thology.

No stranger to Synchronicity, Peter Carr a.k.a Thology, is a hugely talented, multi genre producer hailing from Guildford. His Previous Synchronicity release, ‘Introspect EP’, gained great support and pushed his production into the new level. That new level is Rabbit Holes.
‘Rabbit Holes’ is everything you want and more. Subtle pads, airy vocals and fragile percussions subconsciously fixate your mind, filling every bit of silence effortlessly. The tranquil introduction gradually builds to a euphoric break, where the power of the vocals merged with smooth bass warm the body. It is the perfect production; unique drum patterns reveal a hidden rhythm without overpowering the admirably delicate atmosphere. Every element fuses wholly to create a masterpiece.

Accompanying Rabbit Holes is a variety of remixes covering multiple genres. The first of which comes from Russian based producer Pixelord, who pushes Rabbit Holes into the future. Repitched vocals, stabbing pads and whirling sub bass bring out an almost funky element within Thology’s production. Its complexity is fixating, and we love it.

Flipping the chilled, tranquil vibe for a raw, chest rumbling bassline, is Dubstep & Garage duo Matta. This remix is definitely one for the bass lovers.

Giving Rabbit Holes a sensual twist is our final remixer, Guildford based producer, Capeface. Smooth pads blend with the steady beating of toms and stabby vocal clips to create a track that subconsciously has your head rocking. Unlike the complexity of Pixelord’s remix, Capeface reminds us that sometimes, less is more.
