16 generous bands from around our lovely country have given a bit of their soul for this cassette only compilation which carries the sub-title of the Generator moto: Racket To Stardom! 

Below is a few words about each of the fine artists represented:

Balloon Guy - The standard by which all Generator bands are judged. Live rock from a radio broadcast on Radio K in Minneapolis. Taken off the AM airwaves.

Will Baum - The boy from LA gives us a little piece of his mind with the pondering song "Minor Question", which will give you all of life's major answers. Will's former band was Love Child and his current band is Nine Iron.

Cabin Boy - An anonymous tape we got in the mail with what sounds to be a young boy singing Pavement's "Here". Primitive at best. Awesome.

Cocaine Stiffing Triumph - Jerry from Gaunt does a beautiful song called "Girl" on acoustic guitar backed by free jazz style saxophone.

the Coctails - Out on the porch just letting it fly. The Coctails give us another of the high standard instrumental gems we've come to expect.

Bridget Cross - Formerly of Unrest and now in Air Miami, Bridget gets old world on us with a variation on a sea shanty about garlic. Listen real close and you can here the fan in the background proving it was recorded on a real hot day.

Gold Dust Twins - Two fancy New York lads add together samples and weirdness for a tale of graffiti painting. High tech. High fun.

Harold Rose Orchestra - A fantastic theme to an underground fanzine. Sounds like if Tom Waits wrote a song in 1935. With trumpet, trombone and all your other favorite horns.

Hot Date - Short lived Minneapolis noise commandos, taking a shot at some Chuck Berry inspired rock 'n' roll. And a shot at Cali.

Mountain Singers - Another Generator staple sing a silly pop song about a bar where the customers find stabbing each other to be normal behavior. This song is normal behavior for this band.

Polara - The hottest band in Minneapolis give us a demo from their debut album, a great pop song with textures to boot.

Princess Dragon-Mom - A heavy layering of god knows what. A serious challenge to your thought process. From Detroit, where else.

Puck - Now defunct Minneapolis pop-punk band with high energy and big beats.

Sabine - A wonder boy makes wonderful sounds for birds to sing along with. I think he's now a DCer, and always making more of this wonderfulness.

Smattering - Matt from Balloon Guy gives you a home recording of high order. "Tickets For The Talent Search" is supposed to sound like John Bonham on drums. Go figure.

Whisper Ants - From England? But with a mailing address in OKC? A stunning rendition of a classic song from Prince ala Purple Rain. Twistedly grand.
