Technology and innovation in the field have proven to be effective  to contribute to maximise a positive impact on the athletes and the public and minimise the negative potential effects. To understand the challenges around sports, technology and innovation to come, Microsoft, the Graduate Institute and UNESCO have invited experts from the field to share their experience in the upcoming 2030 Digital Fasttrack Studio. Among the guests, EPFL’s Sport Tech Initiative co-manager, Emilie Michel.

With her colleague, Pascal Vuilliomenet, they help to build a strong regional ecosystem, and insist on the importance of federating efforts for better results with our journalist, Zelda Chauvet.

During her first semester at MIT, Joy Buolamwini got a computer-vision software that did not recognize her face until she put on a white mask. This was the beginning of her quest against biases in technology, and the story of a documentary, “Coded bias” presented at the Geneva International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights (FIFDH) in March.

The UN Charter turns 70 years old on June 26. This is the founding treaty that created the United Nations and in this episode you will learn the fascinating and legitimately entertaining history of that document and of the 1945 San Francisco conference that produced it.

So I caught up with the the writer Stephen Schlesinger, author of the book Act of Creation: The Founding of the United Nations who tells some great stories about the ideas, inspirations and personalities that created the document we now know as the United Nations Charter.

The UN Charter Turns 70 Years Old This Week. Here is How it Came to Life

Last week, a panel of independent experts published an exhaustive and hotly awaited report on the future of UN Peacekeeping and proposed reforms. The panel was lead by Jose Ramos Horta, the Nobel Laureate and former president of East Timor--a country where peacekeeping played a key role in its turbulant early ears.

UN Peacekeeping is Facing Some Big Challenges. Can It Adapt?

Dr Tlaleng Mofokeng took up her role of UN Special Rapporteur on the right to health in July, at a time when governments around the world were beginning to reflect on what the pandemic had revealed about their health systems.
