On A Symbol For Disguise (GEN048), @ububoi & @rhunterrrr join hands to craft a high saturation, high density, high tension collection of collaborative tracks. Texturally, the sound is raspy, heavy hitting, synthetic yet constantly fluid, pushed or shaped into high harmonic regions, giving the sound a full, shimmering, metallic tint. The blasting, bouncy, crispy, sometimes even shredding percussive approach suggests an intense but elastic approach, manifesting in constantly morphing highly syncopated rhythmical forms. With detuned synthetic harp arpeggios, grimy, chromatic melodies and gnarly, glassy pads, the approach here is sometimes reminiscent of that lost era where home listening music, dance music and computer music formed an uncertain and temporary alliance. The notion of a confrontation is further underlined by the incidental appearance of a denatured voice in full range: whispering, declaring, demanding, wailing - looking the listener in the eye.

On Organe Solaire (GEN051) by https://soundcloud.com/amselysen a coherent ensemble is presented consisting of digital, hyperprocessed textures, minuscule sound fragmentations and impassioned, pressing vocal broadcasts. Deceptively, the sound at intermittently even approaches something like a sugary sweet pop production: chord stabs, piano tones, heartfelt howling, energetic kicks, the whole works. The most powerful weapons in the electro-acoustic toolkit are used here: sound events occur on a microscopic scale, sliced, granulated, pitch-bent, resonant, bubbling, stretching - but at the same time have an impactful, cinematic, piercing quality. From the arrangement point of view there is a cryptic multi-centered, restless logic, with the trajectory of all tracks constantly getting out of balance, twisting, self-subverting. The human voice, or the remnants of it, form an important thread through this album; spanning a wide tonal, textural range, the voice material is sometimes vocoded, stuttering, crushed, resampled, fried, totally pushed beyond its limits; but at other times innately performative, assertive - a declaration of intent or active intervention, conveying meaning, communicating something important. Organe solaire follows 2020's murky transmission Hypnagogic Surge.

“My [Amselysen’s] second full length album’s focus, Organe Solaire, strays from conceptual music and goes on dissecting and splaying a dark but colourful sludge of emotions. A major point source in my compositional approach to the record has been imagining the trajectory of hyper-pop if it evolved with a more pessimistic tendency, with the same bells and whistles, but less shiny and squeaky clean — like the rainbow reflections of tar bubbles.
Organe Solaire, unable to afford being cryptic, doubles down on honest, raw lyricism and is quick to open up, building a comprehensive musical and gestural language that reflects the narratives behind each and every track. They range from slow suicidal ballads, to demented hyper-melancholic pop, to interludes containing heavy narratives, like Discrepancies (for Kellyanne): a heavily filtered piano composition dating from my late teens, also acting as a hope to reach out to a long lost then-best friend.
I did not shy away at referencing personal idols who’ve inspired me throughout the years: The Labour of Love samples Akira Fuse’s Shikuramen No Kahori, a song mentioned in Joji Koyama and Tujiko Noriko’s feature length film Kuro, and matches its theme: gazing at the afterimage of a romance long gone. Post-modern Tsunami, as outlined by “shoutout to Hito Steyerl”, is made to the image of Steyerl’s Liquidity Inc.: in its wave-like structure; in its senseless meme aesthetic; and nods at its conceptual approach, dissecting contemporary culture with economic undertones.
To aid me in my efforts, I have called upon two outstanding collaborators to lend their strengths on the album. I’ve recruited the excellent Ubu Boi, providing tactful compositions and solid vocal performances, and the mysterious 2x|n, a.k.a. Seraphim, for precise sound design and incisive aural interventions.
Delving into romantic torment, drug use, artistic frustrations, struggles with mental illness, Organe Solaire brings forth a fundamentally human experience in the form of raw edges thinly veiled under a layer of gloss.”

The approach is bio-mimetic, elastic, fizzy, accelerating and decelerating, like listening to a process of wringing out an artificial fabric, or rupturing ultra-light fibrous materials in incredible resolution. More than ever, this album is littered with colorful, even contemplative segments: having an orchestrated, playful feeling. But make no mistake: more than mere intermezzos, this only a further dimension of the album's depth, the bright timbres ready to interface with a stroboscopic, liquid, granular counterpoint at any time.

Roland Nagy (he/him) is a Hungarian sound engineer, ex-media arts student and producer. Ever since 2016 he has released music under https://soundcloud.com/fausto_mercier moniker on labels like on EXILES, Kaer‘Uiks, Pointless Geometry, Infinite Machine or Genot Centre. His work in the field of electronic music production, while resonating with hardcore digital culture and bouncy rhythmic heaviness, is closely connected to his fascination for natural soundscapes and their fractal nature. In particular, Nagy skillfully manages to depict a violent, tense world populated of minuscule yet grand sound variations, intertwined in a web of apparently chaotic textures. BRYCE HELM returns to Genot Centre with his new album CLOSE YOU'RE EYES WHY SMOKEING WEED (GEN053), a maximalist collection of 34 fever dreams. The relation between these tracks reveal something like a soulseek state of mind, with an impressive horizontal as well as vertical information density, constantly jumping between perplexing, dry counterpoints to full spectrum, jacked bangers. But the whole thing is tied together by frantic, jittery atmosphere, by a blown out, squelching, even concrète approach. In their conciseness, these tracks are almost like snippets, ringtones, dj tools, but these are not miniatures: each of them implies a world, some kind of zone, the elaboration of their implied horizon left as trivial exercise to the listener.

https://soundcloud.com/rami-abadir's Pause/Stutter/Uh/Repeat (GEN046) is a collection of gravity-defying tension build-ups and releases, crammed grimey patterns and blasting overdriven kicks setting the stage for an acousmatic, digital treatment of the human voice as a raw sound source. Vocal snippets, elusive traces of dialogs, ghost notes between utterances, modelled or resampled choirs all form the basis of this approach. On these tracks, high definition focused sound beams, charred high-res textures are complemented by intricate drum rolls sizzling, rushing up, bending beyond their breaking point joined by the clang of metallic, synthetic objects colliding, deforming, rupturing.

“Uh, um, ah, urgh, so, well, I mean, indeed—in everyday conversation, we stutter, pause, prolong a syllable beyond its actual length, sigh, click our tongues and lips, laugh, and repeat. Such interjections utterances and fillers may be considered superfluous to our interactions, even interrupting our flow of ideas. But, if we listen closely, we’ll find them loaded with deeper layers of meaning and affect: hesitation, thrill, discomfort, uncertainty, surprise, shyness, contemplation, or the agonizing search for meaning. 
As I extracted those recurrent utterances from supposedly coherent conversations, and the more I listened to those shards of sound in isolation, I came to the realisation that our semantic exchange has always been fragmented. This overpowering sense of fragmentation inspired a collage structure and infused the production with a deconstructed, dramatic and cinematic sound. In this sense, the collage technique in composition reflects how we construct meaning out of tiny utterances in our speech. “Pause/Stutter/Uh/Repeat” is a distillation of overlooked communication, implicit expression and elusive meaning, all of which could be reduced in a one-syllable utterance. The end result was a canvas of revisited meaning.
I submitted this work as my graduation project for the MA program “Digital Media” at the University of Arts Bremen.”

Millennium Bug Live 2018-2021 (GEN047) by https://soundcloud.com/giantclaw presents an ensemble of living pieces, performance re-imaginings explicitly reframing these works as systems of possibilities and interpretations. Haptic, gestural, tense, constantly on the verge of transformation, these selected renditions reveal themselves not just as linearly sequenced polished constructions but as fluid textural zones to traverse freely, colorful scenes to zoom in and scope out of. Still, their presentation is no less lucid, precise or meticulous than the studio cuts, but offer clarification and new perception through staging them explicitly, resulting in a sound realm that is even more plastic, alive and in-your-face.

On Organe Solaire (GEN051) by https://soundcloud.com/amselysen a coherent ensemble is presented consisting of digital, hyperprocessed textures, minuscule sound fragmentations and impassioned, pressing vocal broadcasts. Deceptively, the sound at intermittently even approaches something like a sugary sweet pop production: chord stabs, piano tones, heartfelt howling, energetic kicks, the whole works. The most powerful weapons in the electro-acoustic toolkit are used here: sound events occur on a microscopic scale, sliced, granulated, pitch-bent, resonant, bubbling, stretching - but at the same time have an impactful, cinematic, piercing quality. From the arrangement point of view there is a cryptic multi-centered, restless logic, with the trajectory of all tracks constantly getting out of balance, twisting, self-subverting. The human voice, or the remnants of it, form an important thread through this album; spanning a wide tonal, textural range, the voice material is sometimes vocoded, stuttering, crushed, resampled, fried, totally pushed beyond its limits; but at other times innately performative, assertive - a declaration of intent or active intervention, conveying meaning, communicating something important. Organe Solaire follows 2020's murky transmission Hypnagogic Surge.

“My [Amselysen’s] second full length album’s focus, Organe Solaire, strays from conceptual music and goes on dissecting and splaying a dark but colourful sludge of emotions. A major point source in my compositional approach to the record has been imagining the trajectory of hyper-pop if it evolved with a more pessimistic tendency, with the same bells and whistles, but less shiny and squeaky clean — like the rainbow reflections of tar bubbles. 
Organe Solaire, unable to afford being cryptic, doubles down on honest, raw lyricism and is quick to open up, building a comprehensive musical and gestural language that reflects the narratives behind each and every track. They range from slow suicidal ballads, to demented hyper-melancholic pop, to interludes containing heavy narratives, like Discrepancies (for Kellyanne): a heavily filtered piano composition dating from my late teens, also acting as a hope to reach out to a long lost then-best friend.
I did not shy away at referencing personal idols who’ve inspired me throughout the years: The Labour of Love samples Akira Fuse’s Shikuramen No Kahori, a song mentioned in Joji Koyama and Tujiko Noriko’s feature length film Kuro, and matches its theme: gazing at the afterimage of a romance long gone. Post-modern Tsunami, as outlined by “shoutout to Hito Steyerl”, is made to the image of Steyerl’s Liquidity Inc.: in its wave-like structure; in its senseless meme aesthetic; and nods at its conceptual approach, dissecting contemporary culture with economic undertones.
To aid me in my efforts, I have called upon two outstanding collaborators to lend their strengths on the album. I’ve recruited the excellent Ubu Boi, providing tactful compositions and solid vocal performances, and the mysterious 2x|n, a.k.a. Seraphim, for precise sound design and incisive aural interventions.
Delving into romantic torment, drug use, artistic frustrations, struggles with mental illness, Organe Solaire brings forth a fundamentally human experience in the form of raw edges thinly veiled under a layer of gloss.”

Roland Nagy (he/him) is a Hungarian sound engineer, ex-media arts student and producer. Ever since 2016 he has released music under https://soundcloud.com/fausto_mercier moniker on labels like on EXILES, Kaer‘Uiks, Pointless Geometry, Infinite Machine or Genot Centre. His work in the field of electronic music production, while resonating with hardcore digital culture and bouncy rhythmic heaviness, is closely connected to his fascination for natural soundscapes and their fractal nature. In particular, Nagy skillfully manages to depict a violent, tense world populated of minuscule yet grand sound variations, intertwined in a web of apparently chaotic textures. He was part of Shape Platform roster in 2020.

INDIVIDUAL DROPS by ICE_EYES is a cold-blooded showcase of dynamic sound organization, where sputtering shreds of sound cluster into larger scale rhythm units, before shattering into new formations once again. Sounds here are sliced, combed, atomized and always performing new acrobatics around the indeterminate no man's land of the rhythm-pitch transition zone, yet somehow never straying too far from advanced dancefloor-ready syncopations. 
The tonal medium of these broken rhythmic arrangements immediately suggests something trembling with cutting edge technological infrastructure, where harmonically dense pads evoke a long forgotten IDM cgi landscape, where hybridized sounds rattle through an elaborate piping system. Warbled mumblings remind us this music is still situated in the realm of the human, but one where every transmission first passes through a chain of paranoia, interception, re-encodings and subversive content barricades. 
The album is finished off with each track rearranged once again by a handful of masterful remixers.

“In seeking of new challenges, our latest work Individual Drops, is focusing on new evolving sonic material from a more microscopic point of view, by integrating more obvious granular synthesis ideas. The purpose is to create a new formula that works both in sculpting sound design, and the same time respects our dystopian orientation as an archetype. At this point, we engage more intensive, ever changing, faintly anorgasmic, sonic motifs, that work as a guidebook to an overall fragmented picture. 
Arcadia, as an art form that can be used as a metaphor of utopia, is always present at the background of that image, holding all parts together, like an anchor in a turbulent sea, resembling the Argo floating on these angry waters. Space or Khoros is a variable of time balancing from small to large places, but not in an paternal way. Granular synthesis at its core, forming each sound in a discrete way, like a drop of rain falling in a pit of clear water.”

In "ok im real i think" (GEN041), adammmmmmmmmm plays a high-stakes game of far-reaching density, acceleration and saturation. Instantly blasting off, this album is a showcase in extreme kick drum technology, a detuned synth stab pandaemonium, a granular fission chamber full of dense clicking sounds, seemingly originating from some digital slime dimension. This notion of saturation is not just in reference to the in-your-face full spectrum sound approach, a conceptual saturation procedure is notably at play too, via euphoric dance music arpeggios and vocal snippets snatched somewhere on an advanced synthesis point of the pop punk-autotune emo-sad boy continuum. This way, a high velocity sense of conceptual concentration is obtained, with extreme stretching modes resulting in chipmunk chatterings and source material skrewed beyond all decent reason. But don't let these suggestions of multiplicity and apparent incongruence create the illusion this is just a particularly goofy and extreme collage exercise: relentless energy and coherent construction lift this up to the level of an alluring complete entity.
