Synopsis:
In the land of Elflán, life and beauty flourishes. We meet Adelita, an adventurous and curious young elf eager to find what lies beyond the horizon. When the evil spirit of La Mancha kidnaps her mother and destroys her home, Adelita is forced to travel north to the land of the Hadaseñas in hopes of being reunited with her again. Little Duende is a new musical with the aesthetic tones of Disney Pixar's Coco and Guillermo Del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth. With fairy tales and mythological themes this musical comments on real world matters as it explores the border crisis, dual citizenship and the consequences of a dark family secret.

A memory tune from Mexican childhood, resurfaced in collaboration with UTEP 2019 Fall Playwrights, and composed by diverse artists; this piece reflects this artist's take on the "Los Elefantes" tune that many of us grew up listening to.

This original take on the children's classic "Un Elefante" was created for the UTEP 2020 production of "Monsters We Create" written by Georgina Escobar. This became the motif and theme of one of the characters, Maybee and her monster NoName.

This is a tune I grew up hearing. My grandmother would sing it to us, but to this day, I have no idea where it came from or who sings it or composed it etc. I believe this version is now truly a handed down original.

Georgina Escobar is a Ciudad Juarez native and NYC-based playwright and director. She is a MacDowell Fellow, Djerassi Resident and recipient of the National Kennedy Center Award for Theatre For Young Audiences. Her work has been featured in the Kilroys List (StoneHeart), The Texas Review (Matted), Los Bárbaros (Ribbon About A Bomb), and New Passport Press (Cósmica). Her work has been produced across the USA and participated in the ASSITEJ festival in Denmark and Sweden. Her plays have been produced and developed at INTAR, Clubbed Thumb, Lincoln Center, Bushwick Starr (NY), Two Rivers (NJ), Milagro (PDX), Aurora Theatre (GA), and more. She serves on the Board of Marfa Live Arts, is on Advisory Committee for the Latinx Theatre Commons, and an active steering committee member for the Climate Commons for Theatre and Performance.
