'Horizons' is a darker tune from the usually upbeat Chicago trio, but one that showcases the collective's depth. Essences and influences from their unique live showcase are easily spotted throughout the upcoming 'Future Soup' track - a consistent theme that the band explain are a vital part of their EP's sound.

Roman Flügel may be one of techno’s most prolific stars. The Frankfurt artist’s remix of Dark Sky’s ‘The Walker’ is his 10th remix in six months. But this makes it no less of an occasion.

Flügel’s take on ‘The Walker’ channels the loose melancholy of the original but injects it with a bubbling euphoria that threatens to erupt, but never quite does. Over the track’s seven minutes, ethereal voices climb over one another whilst synths gurgle in the background.

The track is a masterclass in managing dance floor tension and has been a staple of his sets of late.

‘The Walker’ is taken from the London-based duo’s new ‘Othona’ album, their second album released via Modeselektor’s Monkeytown Records.

There’s not much to report on Berlin newcomer Algorythm. His debut EP ‘Santos Express’ was the inaugural release on Neptune, which earned an impressive 3.5 star review from Resident Advisor, along with support from Ransom Note. His follow up is ‘Typhon’, and is his first release with London imprint Needwant. 

‘Typhon’ is a reference to the giant buried underneath Etna in Greek Mythology. The EP undoubtedly opens with ‘Etna’, a track made for post 4am sets. The bass laden ‘Lion’s Head’ follows and takes you further into the night, hazy atmospherics couples with tingling keys are abundance. Finishing on a much higher and energetic note, is the reservedly epic ‘I Woke Up For Once It Wasn’t For Me’.

Typhon

Algorythm - Etna

EIN2 is the sister label of Einmusika Recordings and they keep up the pressure with their latest release, a new EP from French producer and scene veteran Acumen. The Time Has Changed boss releases music on labels like Non Stop and always layers in real emotion to his house grooves. 

"Innocent Flower" goes first here and is a broody track with pained bass and poignant melodies riding up and down the scale. Glassy tinkles and clever filters all help add to the dreamy and escapist feel of the groove. "Grand Ma" then keeps you on your toes with a lively tech number that has poised chords that never resolve. It is an edgy track with big drums and drama in the synths and again is likely to stand out in any set. "Distance Fatale" is a house number with synths that are epic and well sculpted. They are filled with a sense of loss and as the beats roll on below they get you in a trance.
