Brahms recorded this in 1889. It's famous - for obvious reasons, it is the only recording of the great composer. It is also famous for the lack of remaining audio information. The cylinder was played over and over, so by the time it was transferred to wax disk in 1935 it was already severely degraded. Most modern transfers (including this one) are made from pressings of the 1935 transfer - and so the surface noise of the shellac adds to the surface noise of the original cylinder. I've attempted a new processing algorithm which actually reduces the noise much less than standard, but is designed to set the audio signal in relief against the noise - which makes the audio maybe clearer to hear.
