The unseen world of Level 1 at CUH 
BBC Radio Cambridgeshire 
The BBC's Jozef Hall was granted exclusive access to "the city below the city", the mile-upon-mile of hidden tunnels below Addenbrooke's. Robert Wilkins, CUH head of logistics, told the BBC: "We roughly have about 10km of tunnels below Addenbrooke's, criss-crossing the site. It is estimated that the staff walk around 84,000 miles collectively a year, 200,000-250,000 man-hours a year are worked within the team." Kai, one of the tug drivers, said: "The best thing about the job is providing patient care and there aren't any bad points about the job." When asked if he would work anywhere else, Freddie Mendes, portering supervisor, answered: "Not really, it's like a little family down here, it's a really nice group of people." David in Whittlesey phoned in to say: "What an interesting piece about the tunnels under Addenbrooke's, I had no idea they were there."
