Mugwump 's collaboration with Norwegian disco godfather Päl Nyhus from Mungolian Jetset (Smalltown Supersound) & Tore Gjedrem from killer duo Ost & Kjex (Diynamic), who both provide eerie Prince-like vocals for a slice of psychedelic funk-pop that is the first excerpt from Mugwump's brilliant forthcoming debut album (entitled "Unspell" and scheduled for release on 22.03.2015).
This song about commitment, failure and hope of self- improvement is a departure from Mugwump's full-on club sound and ventures in the realms of modern pop.

Following the release of Mugwump’s acclaimed debut- album "Unspell" in its Deluxe Edition earlier this year, and with media plaudits from the likes of Groove, Clash, SPIN, The Fader, Mixmag (Germany + UK), Nowness, Metro, Uncut, Les Inrockuptibles, Tsugi plus a recent June 2016 headlining guest appearance on BBC 6 Music, Mugwump will return on 21st October 2016 with an assorted package of mind-blowing music and an improved band line-up (drums+vox : Lukas Melville / synths+vox+machines : Geoffroy Mugwump / bass+vox : Stephane Fedele / guitar : Thomas Stadnicki) which is heading towards a big blend of influences such as (Cult Belgian 80's band)TC Matic, early Talking Heads, The Stranglers, Johnny Marr, Air, Ought, Protomartyr or a darker LCD Soundystem. Mugwump keeps on joining the dots between daring dancecuts and live post-punk/disco/indierock with the Metempsycho EP, which serves as a vehicle and playground for the new formation, showcasing re-arrangements of 2 existing album songs ("Breakdown" & "Memento lies") and the new single, « At the Front ». Sung by Geoffroy Mugwump, "At The Front" is an eerie piece of post-punk indie pop, coming with a 10 minutes- long haunted dub version. The song signals an exciting direction for Mugwump’s second album, currently in the works and penned for 2017. Cult Sheffield Electronic act HIEM are Nick Eastwood from art rock band Venini (which included members from Pulp, Clock DVA & Ladytron) & David Boswell aka Bozzwell (member of The All Seeing I). They are operating together episodically and have produced landmark releases on Crosstown Rebels, Eskimo or Nang and and scored vocal featurings from The Human Leagues ’s Phil Oakey and Roots Manuva. Bozz is a longstanding acquaintance of Subfield’s Mugwump as he released music on his now defunct noughties label Suicide recordings (home of Padded Cell, Future Beat Alliance, Jamie Liddell & The Subs).
HIEM's Esoteric EP has all what it takes to satisfy yer growing thirst for ritualism. The original of « Moonwitch and Tarot" is a blurred and dark house number with psych chants coming with two remixes, by the one-and-only Manfredas (Les Disques De La Mort) and by Canadian upcoming disco-tech outfit Ami Moderne. The EP rounds off with « Frightened by Strangers » which grasps Hiem’s postpunk electropop sensibilities onto a ballade in the North of England, post-Brexit.
