“‘Return To The East’ is about going back to your roots, back to simplicity and in turn overcoming doubt, reclaiming personal identity and finding clarity and strength in who you are. 

It was written during a visit to my hometown of Montrose, on the East Coast of Scotland. I was on a bike ride towards Lunan Bay on a sun-drenched day when I entered a deep reflection triggered by the landscape around me. The sea, wild grasses and ploughed fields transported me back to my childhood. I was not long out of university at the time and was trying to find my feet, figure out who I was and what I wanted away from the external noise of city life in Glasgow and the influence of others.”

Largely influenced by bands from the 80s and the 90s, somewhere between psych rock, post punk, new wave and indie rock, GOTM create their own brand of mashed up styles: Psychwave. The band is freshly back from touring Japan and South East Asia.

The Scottish-Italian/French duo got together in East London in the summer of 2016 and later moved to Glasgow. A haunting voice and indie style lyrics on top of hypnotic looped layers of guitars and drum machines, and killer guitar solos. On stage, they like to go with the flow and often end up improvising improbable melodies, creating beautiful and strange new soundscapes. 

Their 2020 album Fake Flowers Never Die caught the attention of BBC radio 6 DJs, added by Vic Galloway of BBC Scotland to his 25 bands to watch out for in 2021 list, and was nominated for the SAY Awards. [Scottish Album of the Year]

Their latest EP ‘The Unraveling’ (released 2022) was named record of the week on BBC Radio Nan Gaidheal and Parisian radio Le Village Pop.
