Experience the high strangeness of plant music—plants that “sing.” For years musician Nico Georis has used biofeedback instruments to connect a variety of flora to analog synthesizers, letting their biodata create music that is strange and existentially gorgeous.

Nico’s work in plant music happened during a six year span, and was set in motion by a simple desire to find a fresh supply of long-form ambient music for relaxing to at home. After a chance encounter with an obscure technology dating back to the 70’s allowing plant electricity to be converted to MIDI data, Nico began experimenting with using his house plants to generate endlessly evolving ambient music. “I was looking for music that I couldn’t find, and I realized the plants & I could make it.”

Here was an opportunity for another type of ambient music, one not born of the human brain, to emerge. A music that moves beyond human thought forms all together, and leans deeply into the green. Culled from hundreds of plant songs recorded between 2016 - 2022 both at home and in the wild Plant Music Vol. 1 and 2 represent the “greatest hits” of Nico’s plant music years.

Plant music Vol. 3 marks the newest installation, showcasing music generated from psilocybin mushrooms, known by many as “Golden Teachers”.

"This music is created via an artistic translation of electrical biodata into musical data. Two mushrooms and the mycelium connecting them are hooked-up to sensors, and their fluctuating electrical conductivity is translated into an equivalent flow of music notes (MIDI). These notes are then filtered into musical scales and routed into synthesizers that generate tones.

These recordings have been arranged into a variety of solos, duets and trios. They reflect what we feel are the most fascinating and beautiful examples of psilocybin mushroom music, straight from the tub."

Nico Georis is a keyboard player, producer & songwriter from California. He produces music from his studio at Granny's Dancehall in a ghost town amidst the wilderness. His music, a unique amalgamation of global influences, presents an imposing total aesthetic that is all his own.

Finland-based Samuel van Dijk is an electronic music producer, sound designer and media artist, having released electronic music under a variety of projects, namely, Mohlao and VC-118A. Following on from 2014-2016's praised album quadrilogy, Multicast Dynamics releases his new "Continental Ruins" LP on Denovali Records. Inspired by decayed infrastructure, Samuel van Dijk reveals his sound documentary about sunken cities and continents.  A study on storytelling with sound, where electronic music acts as a verb, moved by images and narratives.

„Continental Ruins“ LP is a journey through washed out, blurred particles, gliding across the ungraspable seafog of the atlantic, transforming the visible into sound. The murky and desolated atmosphere throughout the tracks reflects an forgotten utopia of places that were once populated. Unfolding fallen structures, immersing into the elusive, submerged land, searching for signs of life in the lost memories of faded civilizations, Multicast Dynamics explores ultrasonic underwater communication, decodes messages and browses through the archive of the past.

Written and produced with analogue synthesizers, arcane effect units and manipulated field-recordings, finally sequenced with the computer and mixed using temperamental analogue mixers. "Continental Ruins" LP is a slow horizontal panning, gliding through frames of sounds, creating textures and layers with unobtrusive rhythms. Samuel van Dijk delivers a calm and organic sound journey, resting on gloomy swirls and hidden artefacts. Artwork by T. van Dijk.

Strategy is the longrunning solo project of Portland, Or. producer Paul Dickow. While Dickow has been involved with a number of unusually varied bands, collaborations, and labels, Strategy remains Dickow's most prolific, perpetually evolving and versatile project. 

'The Infinity File' presents the final chapter in Dickow's long investigation into the mysterious power of cassette tape loops - an exploration previously heard on Strategy's 'Noise Tape Reggae' (Entr'acte, 2008) and 'Noise Tape Self' (Further Records, 2015). This process was confined to only a variable-speed, four-track tape deck and Dickow's own hand-made effects boxes.

Opener "Noise Tape Emax" opens the set with a series of wide-eyed blips and a meandering, dislocated rhythm. The oddly-angled chant of synth noise soon takes shape into something else entirely. The various loops lock into one another at chance but perfect intervals. "Be Careful With That AX-60, Eugene" floats in a wash of clipped, stuttering clicks and shifting chords. You can't help but get lost in its calm, undulating hysteria. "Two Echoes" is a slow-burning drift of fluorescence that channels William Basinski without retreating into overly elegiac murk.

B-side opener "Persistence of Memory" distills an amorphous cosmic drone seemingly beamed from some distant and unknown place. "Occurrence at the Triple Door" and closing opus "Requiem for Apex Predators" unfurls a dopamine cloud of hazy bliss, not unlike pop ambient godhead Gas at his most lethargic and lysergic. The fog eventually dissipates, making way for a blurry bassline that recalls the atmospheric funk of Strategy's classic 'Future Rock' (Kranky, 2007).
