For release number 6 we are delighted to welcome our good friend Citizen back to the W&O Street Tracks family and along with him a producer we've had our eye on for sometime, Joe Ashworth.

Kicking off the EP we have 'Situation', a deep tribal house track featuring vocalist Shona Carmen that evokes the spirit of legendary clubs such as NY's Sound Factory whilst still sounding totally fresh and original. Stripped back without any unnecessary frills or flourishes, it's a masterclass in soulful yet simultaneously jacking house music.

If the original had more than a touch of Manhattan to it, then the 'LDN Warehouse Dub' brings things right back home with a sound forged on smoke filled dance floors in the grimier districts of East London and in its hypnotic, metallic bass line a nod to the Bleep sound of a previous generation of warehouse fillers like Unique 3 and LFO.

Finally we finish things off with 'State' a tautly wound piece of underground house music, that gently ratchets up the tension over 4 minutes before the organ comes in and before you can say 'La Da Dee, La Da Day' lifts the track, and we'd put money on any crowds listening to it, up to a whole 'nother level.

With half a dozen releases now in our first year from the likes of Ejeca, Rhythm Operator, Squarehead, Chamboché and Waze & Odyssey, W&O Street Tracks has quickly established itself at the forefront of the UK’s ongoing house music renaissance.

For the latest output on Lost, Max Chapman produces the goods once again, this time joined by upcoming Kieran Andrews for their inauguration collaboration. The Temperature EP is a straight up three-track compact dancefloor package. 

The lead track Temperature is a delightful slice of deep house with lingering bassy washes, jacking drum patterns topped off with a killer female vocal arrangement. The big drop and pressing vocals shine through for this melodic garage style anthem. 

Ten Twenty One is a much darker house vibe. With some deep hooks and synth patters sitting kindly with a tough bassline, completed with a cleverly spaced out furious vocal stab. Last but by no means least The Groove single is a more percussion heavy techy vibe with an unrelenting bassline and a driving vocal sample. 

This EP will go down a treat in the places that like things nice and deep…

Miami born turntablelist & producer, Jesse Perez, throws down a booty shaking killer house jam for Edible’s fourth release.  “What You Say About My Momma” has been ripping up dancefloors for months since landing in Eats Everything’s hands, so it’s a welcome release on the label, backed with a deadly remix from Truncate.

On the Original Mix, Perez grinds out a funky and low-slung groove, its memorable vocal hook looping and chopping from side to side as the raw MPC beats and sub bass weave their magic.  

Truncate brings his no nonsense and direct approach on the remix, carving out a Dance Mania style drum workout over the cut up vox (think Robert Armani meets Armand Van Helden).  Truncate has been a hugely dependable producer for yonks via his trax on his own Truncate label as well as mixes for Jimmy Edgar, Shlomi Aber and KiNK, and he does not disappoint here.

Perez wraps up the EP with ‘Boogie Down Brown’, another slab of funk laden house goodness, blending high tension strings and rolling drums to great effect.

Perez has been firing out infectious house jams for labels like BPitch, DJ Sneak’s I’m A House Gangster and Hot Creations, for some time now, as well as working his own label Mr. Nice Guy, so it’s a welcome addition to the Edible roster for Jesse Perez.

Solid Grooves serve up a five-track sampler featuring label founders PAWSA and Michael Bibi alongside label favourites ONNO, Reelow and Dennis Cruz.

Launching in September last year, Solid Grooves Records has been on an upwards trajectory ever since. The London and Ibiza brand are now about to kick-start their weekly Ibiza event series every Thursday at Vista Club where their core artists will share the decks with special guests throughout the summer. In light of this the founders have curated five tracks from some of their core roster that’s illustrative of the Solid Grooves musical aesthetic.

First up, Dennis Cruz ‘Fever’ is a rumbling track boasting echoing percussion and a heady spoken word sample. Michael Bibi then drops a moody number teeming with syncopated rhythms and chopped vocals before ONNO unleashes a cavernous cut named ‘Body Shake’ that’s geared for the peaktime. Next, PAWSA ‘Luster’ is a bass fuelled roller that takes no prisoners until Reelow concludes the package with the intricate ‘Shaolin Slap’.

Early August will see the release of PAWSA’s ‘Bruzer’ EP on Audiojack’s Gruuv label, backed with a remix from Josh Butler.

London’s PAWSA is a name that’s been at the tip of many’s tongue over the past year due to a steady stream via the likes of Solid Grooves Records, Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD and Green Velvet's Relief. Here though we see the exciting young talent joining the roster of Audiojack’s Gruuv imprint to further propel him into the limelight.

Audiojack : ‘’PAWSA has been on our radar for many years now. While he was learning how to produce music he came to all our gigs in and around London and at well over 6 foot tall he was easy to spot, head and shoulders above the crowd. He sometimes brought demos and it’s been ace to hear him develop and hone his sound in recent years, and be part of his journey from passionate clubber to talented DJ producer.’’

Up first on the package is ‘Trip’ which leads things on a hypnotic tip with murky atmospherics, glitching percussion and mesmeric vocal hooks, before ‘Tau’ lays its focus on distorted drums and a heavy dose of sub bass.

The original mix of ‘Bruzer’ follows fusing a weighty rhythmic foundation with earth shattering sub bass hits and soft chord stabs. Josh Butler then closes with his rework of ‘Bruzer’, delivering a more refined interpretation via stripped percussion, bulbous bass hits and dubby synth hits while introducing an infectious 303 lead to the latter stages of the mix.

PAWSA’s ‘Bruzer’ EP is out on Gruuv 5th August 2016.
