For Glory - George Palmer

My name is George Palmer and I love to create, perform and produce music. I currently live in New Zealand and I am studying at Otago University in Dunedin to complete a Bachelor in Music, Majoring in Contemporary vocal performance and Songwriting/Composition.  


I was born in the capital city Wellington, New Zealand. I was educated at Scots College high school and was involved in sports teams but mainly focused on the music side of things. I then left Wellington to study contemporary music at Otago University where I currently learn about the industry, singing, songwriting/composition and music technology just to name a few. I'm doing a double major in songwriting/composition and Vocal Performance but I also play Guitar and know little bit of bass, piano, drums, mandolin and Ukelele.


In terms of experience I played in a band for five years and played around thirty gigs. We recorded an EP at STL Audio in Wellington and released a second EP independently. We got through to the regional Rockquest finals and won the peoples choice award. I have mainly written music for myself but I'm also interested in composing for media advertisements, film and learning covers. 


I have the ability to write songs for soloists, bands and media including ad jingles and film music. I have been learning about studio session singing and performance at university and on the side I do my own recording and producing, specialising mainly in Logic, but with a bit of Pro Tools on the side.
