Today we lost Ustad Sultan Khan, an extraordinary musician, gifted vocalist and master of the sarangi. I met Sultan-ji in 1998 around midnight at Fantasy Records in Berkeley when he arrived with Zakir Hussain to record a couple of pieces for my Night Spinner CD. Water Dance was written to celebrate the birth of my youngest son, Misha...This recording features the beautiful and haunting sarangi of Sultan Khan along with Zakir Hussain, Dave Belove, Jack Perla and Dave Rokeach. Rest in Peace.
